Mobius Dance Group Limited plan to further strengthen their Board, with an additional 2-4 key roles, over the next 12 months.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

Mobius Dance Group Limited began 2024/25 year with an ambition to continue to expand on the successes of their previous years and particularly the growth experienced in their first year as a registered Charity.

In January 2024, we launched the Atelier Online now part of the ‘Atelier Programme’. It is a series of online classes using somatic approaches led by facilitator Fabiano Culora, to guide people towards a better physical and psychological wellbeing. The programme runs from May 2024 until the end of April 2025, reaching people between the age of 20 and 70.

In June 2024, we hosted a collaboration with Body and Earth International in Italy. Co-led by Andrea Olsen and Caryn McHose, a group of 8 international individuals coming from the UK, Finland, Italy, and Greece, met and moved during a long weekend retreat focused on eco-somatic practices.

In July 2024, following the successful application from Arts Council England, the company enjoyed three weeks in the studio for the phase one of The Long Summer Day - a 50 minute choreographic score developed by Co-Directors Gianluca Vincentini and Fabiano Culora, with four dancers, Musician Otis Jones, and award-winning Poet Andrew McMillan. The phase one was shared with 50 people with no dance background, giving us great feedback. Alex Corwin, Marketing and Programme Manager at Kala Sangam, joined us. This resulted in Kala Sangam wanting to book the show for a performance in their new space in October 2025.

In September 2024, a new series of our Mobius Dance Atelier Retreats Leeds began. A 1-day retreat series co-facilitated by Fabiano Culora and Jennifer-Lynn Crawford to a closed group of 11 people based on the relationship between Movement and Wellbeing - a way to gather resources for life.

In September, we also launched our new series of the Atelier Online - a series of online classes using somatic approaches led by facilitator Fabiano Culora, to guide people towards a better physical and psychological wellbeing. The programme reached a total of 50+ people during September 2024 to April 2025.

Strategic meetings took place alongside our daily running of the business to create new partnerships as well as moving Mobius towards becoming a cross-European company. This led to few successes including the awarding of Associate Company with Perypezie Urbane in Italy.

In December 2024, we submitted an application to the Arts Council England - via their ‘Project Grant’ scheme - to further develop The Long Summer Day . This received a positive outcome in March 2025, with the project timeline starting preparation in April 2025, with activities to take place until autumn 2025. Activities include the development of three targeted specific workshops; the expansion of the Artistic Team; and the UK premiere of the work.

In February 2025, we successfully recruited two new Trustees: Christina Kapadocha and Isabel Pollen joined the Board for their first meeting in March 2025.

This year also saw our Artistic Director being made Associate Artist with Perypezie Urbane - a company based in Italy.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Due to having minimal fixed assets, requiring little maintenance and minimal business overheads, the Trustees agree the current reserves are sufficient to cover the organisation’s committed overheads for the coming year.

Overall, there was a small deficit for the year of £79 and a reduction in reserves from £22,726 to £22,647. This was largely due to spending on phase 2 of the Poetry in Motion project in advance of the receipt of grant funding.

The current reserves policy is to only spend against committed Funding and Income from commissions, with an aim to build a reserve that would allow our core operating expenses to be maintained for between 3 to 6 months.
