Chairman’s Statement

Thanks to all the trustees and volunteers who have been pro-active throughout the year 2023/24 promoting the sport of Power Hockey and making for a successful year.

Considerable work that has been undertaken especially in relation to the development of Hubs and the number of participants in Power Hockey. Hubs are now established in Burton, Cardiff, Durham, Gloucester, Middlesbrough and Liverpool. Thanks to the support from Sport England we are now in a position to develop a further four Hubs over the next 18 months.

Throughout the year considerable work has been undertaken on refining the Rules of the Sport. As the sport grows we intend this year to provide more coaching and official educational courses for the Hubs. It is important to continue the work of involving disable children through come and try sessions and school competitions at the Hubs throughout the UK

The trustees have set an ambitious target to establish a Premier league for power hockey of 10 teams and a Championship League of 10 teams within the next two years. During the year there has also been expressions of interest from Australia in Power Hockey with one club ordering there first specialist chairs.

The season 2023/24 held previous fixture days for the league in Burton Upon Trent and in Middlesbrough. This culmination of the League Championship will be at the Greenbank Sports Academy on 20/21[st] July 2024 with what promises to be some exciting clashes.

Whilst a prime aim of the charity is to develop the sport of Power Hockey throughout Great Britain we are also keen to enhance the opportunities and status of people with disabilities through a variety of sport, education and employment.

The Charity has supported both Power Hockey and Power football during the accounting year.

Thanks to the fund raising committee for their tireless work. Special thanks to Care Preference Ltd who are the only sponsors for Power Hockey and targeting grants from charitable trusts and public bodies should be a priority this year.

Hope you enjoy the sport of Power Hockey and become fans and ambassadors helping us achieve our objectives.
