## GB Power Hockey Association CIO ## Charity number 1193785 Chairman’s report for the financial period ending 31[st] March 2022 The CIO was registered on the 1[st] March 2021 and financial activities for the financial year ending 31[st] March 2022 have been limited partly due to Covid. The financial year started with an opening bank balance of £520 and ended with a balance of £1,065. The only income for the year was a £1,000 donation from Arnold Clark to help with admin and set up cost. The only expenditures for the year were £450 to Business Legal Ltd for their help in preparing the Constitution for the Charity Commission, There was £5 bank charges. The Trustees have been pro-active in enhancing the opportunities and status of people with disabilities through sport and education. During the year the CIO has worked in partnership with the Greenbank Project to develop the sport of Power Hockey throughout Great Britain by attending sports clubs and facilities interested in become HUBs for Power Hockey and Power Football. Trustees have also facilitated on an ESF educational programme giving lectures outlining opportunities in employment and education courses in the sports industry, providing coaching skills & tactics sessions and covering the rules of the game. During the year a HUB was established in Burton and run by St Georges Power Football club. Work is well underway to establish a further HUB in Cardiff and in Birkenhead by February 2023. All the HUB’s will be provided with eight power hockey sports chairs and in return they will provide a sporting venue for Power Hockey and Power Football and promote the sport in special schools and clubs in their region and help facilitate the establishment of a national league for Power Hockey. A further three HUBs will be created by August 2023. The potential locations that are being looked at are Durham, Gloucester, London, Middlesbrough and Bolton. The first National championships for Power Hockey are planned for May 2023 to be held at the Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool. There are 20 players participating in Power Sports on a weekly basis at Greenbank and there have been 2 inter school competitions during the reportable period. By the year end we aim to have 4 Power Hockey HUBs up and running in Liverpool, Birkenhead, Burton and Cardiff providing opportunities for over 100 players participating in power sports on a weekly basis. A further 200 players will have attended taster sessions and events. During the year Liam Ashton was co-opted to the management committee and has been proactive through social media promoting the activities of the CIO Trustees have identified the need to fund raise for specific equipment to help the more severely disabled athletes as required. Examples identified include technology equipment to help the athlete compete such as foot or finger controls, dead man switches, communication aids. The fundraising committee would also like to assist with help towards travel and accommodation cost for athletes and escorts for those in need, and cover development / promotional travel costs.
