## **1. Objectives and Activities**

Summary of the objects of  This charity runs a playgroup for pre school children in and around the<br>the charity set out in its  Pontrhydfendigaid area. It raises money to buy equipment and finance<br>governing document  activities within the playgroup and pay staff to run it.<br>To advance the education of preschool children through the medium of<br>the Welsh language.<br>Summary of the main  Cylch Meithrin Pontrhydfendigaid runs a nursery (Cylch) for up to 16 pre-<br>activities undertaken for  school children aged two years to school age during the school term.<br>the public benefit in<br>relation to these objects   We are a small friendly nursery offering a happy, safe, stimulating and<br>exciting environment nurturing children’s development. Each child’s<br>learning is supported and encouraged at their own pace.<br>The Cylch operates according to the principles of Planning in the Moment<br>(new National Curriculum for Wales for Foundation Learning) for pre-<br>school children.  The areas of focus are numeracy, literacy, and digital<br>competence as well as physical, well being, exploration, communication<br>and belonging.  We provide a wide variety of activities and play<br>experiences that enable them to develop to their full potential.   We are<br>an inclusive setting which is open to all children of the requisite age in<br>Pontrhydfendigaid, Ceredigion and the surrounding area.<br>The Cylch rents facilities within Pantyfedwen village hall; a classroom<br>including two toilets and sinks and a secure outdoor play area, plus with<br>access to and use of a kitchen.<br>The Cylch is registered with Care Inspectorate of Wales (CIW)<br>(W1600003041) and Estyn: Her Majesty's Inspectorate For Education And<br>Training In Wales.<br>The Cylch raises money to pay staff and rent, buy equipment and finance<br>activities within the playgroup.  We receive funding for two, three and<br>four year olds and also provide places for children on a paid basis who do<br>not qualify for funding. ## **2. Achievements and Performance**

As Cylch Meithrin Pontrhydfendigaid has made<br>such an impression on Estyn, the Cylch is now being used as an example of<br>effective practice on the 'external area to improve children's skills' section<br>on the website.<br>In September 2023 the Cylch won best Cylch Meithrin in Wales, best<br>leader in Wales and best assistant in Wales in the Mudiad Meithrin<br>awards.<br>Grants from the education department and Mudiad Meithrin are provided<br>on a case by case basis for children who require additional support<br>(financial and other eg speech and language), the Cylch received support<br>for two children during the year.<br>The Cylch applied for three grants for training, improving IT facilities and<br>assistance with rent and staff wages.<br>The Cylch is an asset to the local area and the community, bringing local<br>people together through fundraising events and involving the young<br>generation of children and their families in community events.  In<br>September 2023 the Cylch was 50 and in the July it held a social event<br>inviting the community, past and present staff and pupils, over 100<br>attended and was a great success.<br>Ti-a-fi continues to run in the Games room within Pantyfedwen village hall<br>from 9:15 – 11:15am on Wednesdays during term time.
