Summary of the objects of This charity runs a playgroup for pre school children in and around the
the charity set out in its Pontrhydfendigaid area. It raises money to buy equipment and finance
governing document activities within the playgroup and pay staff to run it.
To advance the education of preschool children through the medium of

relation to these objects|Cylch Meithrin Pontrhydfendigaid runs a nursery (Cylch) for up to 16 pre-
school children aged two years to school age during the school term.
We are a small friendly nursery offering a happy, safe, stimulating and
exciting environment nurturing children’s development. Each child’s
learning is supported and encouraged at their own pace.
The Cylch operates according to the principles of Planning in the Moment
(new National Curriculum for Wales for Foundation Learning) for pre-
school children. The areas of focus are numeracy, literacy, and digital
competence as well as physical, well being, exploration, communication
and belonging. We provide a wide variety of activities and play
experiences that enable them to develop to their full potential. We are
an inclusive setting which is open to all children of the requisite age in

The Cylch rents facilities within Pantyfedwen village hall; a classroom
including two toilets and sinks and a secure outdoor play area, plus with
access to and use of the kitchen.
The Cylch is registered with Care Inspectorate of Wales (CIW)
(W1600003041) and Estyn: Her Majesty's Inspectorate For Education And
Training In Wales.
The Cylch raises money to pay staff and rent, buy equipment and finance
activities within the playgroup. We receive funding for two, three and
four year olds and also provide places for children on a paid basis who do
not qualify for the funding. Fundraising activities are organised
throughout the year to subsidise the running costs of the Cylch.

## **3. Achievements and Performance** ||Summary of the main
achievements of the
charity during the year|The Cylch is open for up to 16 number two, three and four year old every
week day in term time, from 8:15am to 3:45pm. The period between
9:00am and 11:30am remains the most popular when some two year
olds plus all three and four year olds are funded by the local authority for
up to 12.5 and 10 hours respectively a week. Some three and four year
olds receive an additional 20 funded hours depending on
parents/guardians meeting criteria. The Cylch is also registered to receive
Tax free childcare payments for eligible parents.
The Cylch employs one full time member of staff and four part time
assistants. Bank staff are called as required (part time staff also work as
bank staff). The staff work closely with the trustees and committee to
ensure the efficiency and smooth running of the Cylch.
In December 2022 the Cylch was inspected by CIW and Estyn and
received an outstanding report.
Grants from the education department and Mudiad Meithrin are
provided on a case by case basis for children who require additional
support (financial and other eg speech and language), the Cylch received
support for three children during the year.
The Cylch applied for six grants for training, improving IT facilities and

when there are fewer children attending.
