A wide range of activities are undertaken under the banner of Beacon Church Hebden Bridge to carry out its objectives; to provide opportunity for people, whether they are already part of the faith or those seeking to discover more, to express or explore devotion through Evangelical Christian worship and engage in discipleship and training to deepen their understanding of Christianity. To raise awareness and understanding of Evangelical Christianity through teaching, friendship, fellowship, community service and outreach work. To serve the local community by the promotion of spiritual welfare through the practical expression of Evangelical Christianity: fellowship, friendship, mutual support and practical help (depending on circumstances and specific need). These include Sunday Services as an expression of Christian worship; there is regular teaching and training in the Christian faith and opportunities for believers to express their spiritual nature through prayer and service, and live out their faith in practical ways as we serve those in our community. ## **2 Public Benefit** The Trustees consider that the objectives as described above fulfil the requirements of the Charity Commission's public benefit disclosure. ## **3 Structure, Governance and Management** The Charity is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, number 1193732, and is constituted as a CIO under a constitution dated 8 March 2021. The trustees who served during the year were: Benjamin Oliver Cheryl Clarke Stephen Wright (Appointed 11[th] March 2025) The church is a member of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches, (FIEC). ## **4 Financial Review** Income for the period amounted to £36,216 and expenditure £32,007 leading to a surplus for the year of £4,209 (2024 deficit of £18,438). Total funds at the end of the year were £104,981, (2024: £100,771) of which £389 (2024: £240) were restricted. **BEACON CHURCH HEBDEN BRIDGE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2025** **Page 2B** ## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES (contnued)** ## **5 Review of Activities** Beacon Church Hebden Bridge has provided weekly Sunday Services and mid-week meetings in the HX7 area in which Christian worship and teaching take place, these are open to everybody regardless of belief. This benefits those who already Christians by helping them to learn more about their faith and giving those who are not the chance to explore Evangelical Christianity. The church currently meets in centre of Hebden Bridge town, in order to make it easier for people to attend and also raise awareness of the church. The building we meet in is well used and is fully accessible to anyone with disabilities. These services and meetings also provide community in which friendships are built and in which fellowship mutual support and practical help take place. These are not only religious but social events open to all members of the community. This benefits those who attend by developing friendships, improving mental health, spiritual welfare and with practical support. For example, those younger and more physically able in the church have been able to provide support and practical help to those in the church who are older or have health issues by taking them to hospital, picking up prescriptions, and doing their shopping. During this period a number of people have visited the church with some attending the church regularly and two men have chosen to follow the Christian faith. The Beacon Church Hebden Bridge has sought to raise awareness and understanding of the Christian faith in the HX7 area through a weekly literature table in Hebden Bridge Town Square, in which free Christian literature is given away and people have the opportunity to ask questions about Christianity. Also, the church holds a weekly Bible study meeting in one of the pubs in Hebden Bridge in which those who are interested in exploring the Christian faith have been able to attend and ask questions. Through these things people have begun to both attend the church and explore the Christian faith. This awareness is built on in the Sunday services and the mid-week meetings where those who desire to learn more are able to do this. Some of the members of the church have been involved in promoting the Christian faith in a number of local primary and secondary schools. Through this they have taken part in school assemblies, given away “Your Move” books in order to help those transitioning from primary to secondary school to be more confident starting secondary school. They have also hosted a “Question Point” at one of the local secondary schools in which they ask a question on moral or spiritual issues to make pupils think deeper and to give them a platform to voice opinions on diverse topics. The Beacon Church Hebden Bridge has served the local community by providing monthly bring and share meal, on the last Sunday of each month, after the church service. This meal is open to all whether they attend church or not and it has given further chances for fellowship and to develop friendships among those in the church or with those who visit the church. One of the members of the church has served the local community by consistently providing support for homeless people in Halifax (our closest large town), helping some of the most vulnerable in society. Members of the church have been involved in running a weekly youth group, which is open to all local children whether they attend church or not, in which the children play games, make crafts and learn about the Christian faith. **BEACON CHURCH HEBDEN BRIDGE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2025** **Page 2C** ## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES (contnued)** ## **6 Reserves Policy** The Charity seeks to retain reserves when possible, but not to the detriment of its work. Oliver** Date: 31st March 2026 **BEACON CHURCH HEBDEN BRIDGE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2025** **Page 3** **REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF BEACON CHURCH HEBDEN BRIDGE** Charity No. 1193732 I report to the Charity Trustees on my examination of the accounts of Beacon Church, Hebden Bridge (‘the Charity’) for the year ended 30 June 2025, which are set out on pages 4 to 6. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** As the Trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’) I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination. During the year he received a salary of £25,450 (2024: £24,549) and the Church made contributions into a pension of scheme of £1,401 (2024: £1,335). Other than is disclosed above, none of the Trustees received any remuneration or were reimbursed any out of pocket expenses during the year.
