It has been agreed that in 2023 it will be an aim of the charity to expand this to four or five trustees to bring a wider range of independence and skills. It has been agreed either Gordon Leslie Scott or David Gordon Scott will resign in 2023. ## **Management** The Trustees are all responsible for the management of the Charity and each Trustee is on the Board that manages the affairs of the Charity. A chairperson is elected annually at the AGM of the Charity. On appointment new Trustees are given a copy of the Trust Deed and a copy of the Charity’s latest report and statement of accounts. A register of the name and address of each Trustee and the dates on which their terms of office begin and end is kept by the Trustees. All Trustees give their time freely and have not received any benefit in money or in kind from the Charity except that the Trustees are insured against claims or the costs of defence to a criminal prosecution brought against them as charity Trustees. ## **Objectives and Activities for the public benefit** The Objects of the charity are specified in the Trust deed as follows: _‘The relief of poverty, sickness and distress, the preservation and protection of good health and advancement of education among orphaned, abused, impoverished or enslaved children and adults by such means and in such parts of the world as the trustees shall determine.’_ The Trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Commission in exercising their powers or duties. ## **Section 3 – Activities and Achievements** In 2022 the charity was still in the process of being setup. The charity has been formed as a CIO to take over the operations of Many Hopes (charity registration number 1132317). 2022 has been a year of transitioning arrangements. The fundraising in 2022 has almost exclusively focused on transitioning existing regular donors from the old charity to the new charity. No grants were paid out in 2022. The trustees have liaised with the old charity who has paid grants in 2022. ## **Section 4 – Policies** **Reserves policy:** In the Trustees’ view, the reserves should provide the charity with adequate financial stability and the means for it to meet its charitable objectives for the foreseeable future. The trustees propose to maintain the charity’s reserves at a level which is at least equivalent to six months operational expenditure in the light of likely funding streams. **Investment policy:** The Charity’s reserves are currently held on deposit at our bankers, Triodos Bank.
