ERHH Report 2023- 2024 The Integrated Care Board (ICB) confirmed permanent funding for the ERHH on 12/12/23. For: - Bi-monthly health screening drop-in clinics @ Cutcombe market - Staffed by 1 x Community Nurse, and 1 x Mental well-being practitioner + some hours of clerical administration In addition to the above, the ERHH offer free to patient chiropody clinics 1x month by appointment. Number of NHS clinics Jan- December = 24 + Dunster Show Number of Patients attending= c.70 Although there were more clinics this year than last, the early year sales were sparsely attended as lambs achieved poor growth over the winter. Dunster show; August 16[th] 2024. ERHH again took a pitch to promote the charity and what it offers – some 35 people attended for screening. NHS Bowel cancer nurses joined the ERHH team on the stand to raise awareness and answer questions about symptoms and preventative actions. ## Covid Clinics – - 5/06/24 for the over 75 cohort saw 9 vaccinations at market and two home visits - 06/11/24 Covid and Flu +65s = 64 - 25/11/24 Vaccination clinic (flu & covid) = 10 9x Chiropody clinics from Feb – December = Total patients seen=87 ## Donations made: The ERHH charity funded a new defibrillator to be situated at the Livestock market and this covered by the South West Farmer and the Western Morning News Donations received: The Exmoor Hillfarming Network donated £2,000 to the charity from their ‘farming first’ division, and this was used to re-floor the portacabin, and pay for a number of chiropody appointments. In September 2024, the charity received a cheque for £1,000 from XmoorRox Festival to acknowledge and recognise the charity’s contribution to supporting the health and mental well-being of the farming and wider community. On 10/07/24 our Chair of Trustees was featured on Radio4’s Farming today programme talking to an Exmoor GP about the ERHH and how the drop in health hub is facilitating farmers to seek medical health advice. The charity featured in a subsequent Radio4 farming today broadcast on 09/10, with a local farmer talking to the Health Hub community nurse about being able to see a nurse when he comes to market. Both of these interviews were coordinated by the I.C.B. & Somerset NHS Foundation Trust whose Chairman, Colin Drummond commended the ERHH for their contribution to health care to a hard-to-reach rural community, sentiments echoed by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant: Mohammed Saddiq. ## Charity business In January two new younger Trustees were co-opted, to balance the age range of Trustees and to extend the charity’s reach to younger farmers on Exmoor. The Trustees now number 9, 4 men, and 5 women. The biographies and photographs of all Trustees are in the process of being added to the ERHH website, alongside the page introducing the Nursing staff. _Two new policies have been adopted:_ - _Social Media_ - _Trustee Code of Conduct (inc. Conflict of interest)_ The Charity is regularly contacted by health professionals to cascade information and awareness to the farming community about relevant health information such as atrial fibrillation, bowel cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer, & breast cancer pre-hab. The charity works with the Exmoor HillFarming Network to get health messages out via newsletters, informal talks, social media and via the website. Looking Forward: With permanent funding for NHS nurses now confirmed by Somerset NHS ICB, and with demand for the ERHH farming health services increasing, the Chair of Trustees has been in negotiation with Cutcombe market to secure a plot of land (on a long-term lease) on which the Charity propose building bespoke consulting rooms. This project is at an early stage, but if planning permission is granted, and funds can be raised, the new build would allow for 3 consulting rooms, a disabled toilet and a reception area, in close proximity to the market building itself. Improved facilities, and additional space will allow the ERHH to extend its health offer to farmers and the larger rural community of Exmoor. Financial report: prepared by Hannah Slade ACMA shows a balance of £16,731.57 at the end of September 2024.
