Charity Status
The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. It was incorporated and registered on 2 March 2021. The charity registration number is 1193680. The registered charity name is ‘The Bobsleigh Skeleton & Ice Sports Foundation’, and under the working name of ‘Ice Sports Foundation - Super Sliders’. It is registered with HMRC for Gift Aid.
Charitable Objects:
The objects of the Ice Sports Foundation (ISF) are for the public benefit, the advancement of Amateur Ice Track Sports, including bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton by:

Advancing the education in the sport of young people under the age of 25 by the provision of grants, funding and support to enable them to fulfill their potential
-
The relief generally of young persons who are physically or mentally disabled from their disabilities by facilitating their participation in amateur ice track sporting events.
Chairman’s Statement:
“During the period of this report (1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024) Ice Sports Foundation SuperSliders has continued to execute its strategic plan to achieve its purpose by delivering 1 Bronze and 2 Silver programmes. The aim is to achieve the goal of running a Gold Event in 2025. The programmes have focused on educating and nurturing the target population (16-26 years old) to be self-confident and independent (“me” – Bronze workshops) and interdependent, team players (“we” – Silver workshops). The one-day events continue to be based at the University of Bath on the simulated bobsleigh and skeleton track. They are organized and run by Super-Slider volunteers (trustees and ambassadors) and professional coaches.
The profile and success of ISF SS has been raised by social media, local media and word of mouth, in particular the individuals who’ve participated in the programme.
The charity remains adequately funded through effective fund-raising initiatives, the generosity of donors and competent financial management.
Dedicated trustees have ensured that the charity is well run by diligent attention and compliance with safeguarding and governance best practice.
With the support of collaborative youth organisations in particular Young Bristol and Army Cadet Force, Ice Sports Foundation Super-Sliders is on course to complete its pathway of Bronze-Silver leading to a Gold event in 2025.

As chairman, I conclude my report by acknowledging the huge success to date of Ice Sport Foundation Super-Sliders. This is achieved by the energy, expertise and commitment provided by the unpaid trustees and ambassadors. The Foundation is fortunate to be enhanced by attracting new talented trustees and ambassadors who are motivated by the Foundations purpose and culture.”

Key Achievements:
This was a period of building upon our foundations with the addition of two new trustees, taking the charity to 9 Trustees in total. 2023-2024 was also a period in which we began to properly establish our activities and cement relationships with partner associations.
The key achievements included:

In the period August 2023 to July 2024, We successfully ran 3 programmes at the University of Bath, namely, 1 on 16 September 2023 and 2 on 20 April 2024.
-
Our first Silver Programme took place in September 2023.
-
Developing connections with Young Bristol, a Bristol-based youth charity that attended both events with around a dozen participants.
-
Further development of our website and social media pages.
-
A number of applications to new foundations were successfully made for funding.
-
Participating in the March 2024 Sporting Chance Prize Draw which generated significant charitable donations.

Trustee training was undertaken by all Trustees in Safeguarding and Trustee duties. Programme delivery training was successfully completed for those leading the classroom workshops.

Highlights:
The inaugural Silver award day took place in September 2023 at the University of Bath bobsleigh and skeleton push-start track with an enthusiastic group of young people. The programme included coaching using both the skeleton and bobsleigh on the push-start track, with an equal proportion of time spent in the classroom. The classroom sessions follow the ‘ from me to we’ training developed specifically for this programme, which focuses on teamwork mindset and preparedness. All the coaching was delivered by experienced current and former Olympic Athletes in their capacity as Ambassadors to our charity. Feedback submitted by the participants, through anonymous questionnaires, on both days produced an overwhelmingly positive response to the format with 100% of them rating the day amazing.
It was a successful year for fundraising . Our Sporting Chance Prize Draw was very successful and raised over £8,000. After meeting with representatives of a number of corporate and charitable entities, our charity was very grateful to receive a number of significant donations as well as a number of other donations from corporate donors that wish to remain anonymous.

Risk Policy
The Trustees have considered the risks associated with running the charity, in particular the safeguarding obligations arising from working with young people and vulnerable adults. Any enhancement to our policies and procedures will be kept under review and bolstered, as required, to ensure the appropriate management of risks identified. All Trustees and Ambassadors are required to participate in Safeguarding training at least annually as well as receiving refresher training prior to events and to have up to date DBS Certificates.
Charity Governance and Management
At this point in time, all work associated with governance and management of the charity is carried out by the Trustees and, where appropriate, in collaboration with qualified professionals (i.e. legal and accountancy, web design). These activities are managed via scheduled and ad hoc meetings between trustees and by formal quarterly trustee meetings, with minutes and corresponding action lists as appropriate.
Plans for the Future
The Trustees plan to fundraise sufficient monies to deliver the Charitable Objects, with a focus on:

Delivering Super Slider events in partnership with our Ambassadors, with the support of the BBSA;
-
Developing our reach to young and vulnerable adults across the UK;
-
Raising additional funds;
-
Continuing to build out our policies, processes and governance, making sure they are up to date and in line with all requirements; and
-
Delivering a Gold Super Sliders programme on an Olympic bobsleigh track, at a location in Europe.
Financial Review
The statement of financial activities is on page 11. Total income in the form of donations received (less fees to payment processors - Stripe and iZettle) totaled £16,779. The implementation of charitable activities (programme days) was £5,415, while the cost for maintaining and updating the charity website incurred in the year was £1,395 and a further £1,402 of general administrative expenses. There was £3,600 of professional fees incurred in the financial year, £3,600 of which was for one-off expenditure for the drafting of the charity’s constitutional documents, initially incurred by Tony Wallington and subsequently reimbursed.
In preparing the financial report, the Trustees all agree on the importance of processing expenses and reimbursements in a timely manner, so they hit the correct financial year, along with the development of a robust accrual process over the year end process.

The Charity is in good shape financially, with a bank balance in line with the Reserves Policy. Compensation to Trustees was nil.
Public Benefits
The Trustees have due regard to the guidance published by the Charity Commission in relation to public benefit requirements.
Reserves Policy
The reserves policy is to maintain a balance of at least £10,000 in the bank account.
Conflicts Policy
The trustees are committed to making decisions based only on what’s best for the ISF. However, they also recognise that there may be times when personal interests, or the interests of people or organisations connected to them could influence these decisions.
The trustees are required to stay up to date on matters pertaining to conflicts as part of their ongoing training, and have been made aware of the resources available to them, including - Managing conflicts of interest in a charity GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Trustees are all aware of their responsibilities:

To identify conflicts when they arise
-
To declare them asap when they do arise
-
To consider removing them, particularly if it is a serious conflict
-
To manage it, if it is not appropriate to remove it
The Secretary is responsible for keeping a record of conflicts of interest, ensuring they record what the conflict is, who it affected, when it was declared and how it was managed.
Trustees:
The governance documents provide for at least three and no more than nine Trustees. The power to appoint new Trustees is vested in the existing Trustees. Every trustee must be appointed for a term of two years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.
Tony Wallington OBE OLY was appointed on 2 March 2021. Sarah Krebs was appointed on 15 June 2021. Jeremy Elms was appointed on 1 December 2022. Gerardine Hogarth and Adam Cakebread were appointed on 18 April 2023. Tom De La Hunty was appointed 17 April 2023,

Katherine Girling was appointed 3 March 2024 and Tiffany Saunders was appointed 12 March 2024.
Previous trustees: Joe Henderson was appointed 2 March 2021 and resigned, effective 1 June 2022. Henrietta Alderman was appointed on 25 November 2021 and resigned, effective 1 December 2022. Tom de la Hunty was appointed on 17 April 2023. Jennifer Suman was appointed on 15 December 2021 and resigned on 15 December 2023.

Trustees’ Responsibilities in relation to the Financial Statements
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees Annual Report and the financial statement in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Account Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires that Trustees prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the income resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements the Trustees are required to:

select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and,
-
Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the governing document. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
