About the Committee

Our Management Committee are regularly in talks about everything happening at the preschool. This can include things like new legislation, staffing, training, resources, updates to the setting, and fundraising ideas.

All trustees work together to make decisions that are in the best interests of the preschool and the children. It’s important that everyone acts professionally and avoids any conflicts of interest. Decisions are made as a group, with a majority vote, and the Chairperson only steps in to vote if there’s a tie.

We recognise that becoming a trustee can feel a little daunting, as there are increasing legal and financial responsibilities. However, we support our committee members with training opportunities, including Suffolk CPD, to help build confidence and knowledge. We also have a healthy reserve fund in place to cover major costs, which means the preschool is in a strong and stable position.

Blundeston Pre-School is supported and regulated by the Early Years Alliance, Suffolk County Council, and Ofsted. Before joining meetings, committee members complete the necessary checks, including an enhanced DBS, Ofsted forms, and confidentiality agreements. The cost of the DBS is refunded by the preschool.

Our Staff Team

We are very proud of our team of six dedicated staff, who work incredibly hard to support the children’s learning and development every day.

Nicky is our Setting Manager and also our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). Charlotte is our Deputy Manager and Safeguarding Lead. All staff are trained in safeguarding, paediatric first aid, and health and hygiene, and regularly take part in additional training to keep their knowledge up to date.

We’re also delighted to have achieved a 5-star hygiene rating again - well done to the whole team!

Our Children & Families

We’ve had a slower start to this academic year. We expect this number to grow as the months go by. We do however expect a slower start with

children as birth rates are lower than the previous last few years. The Preschool will use advertising to promote spaces we currently have in our local and surrounding areas.

Over the past year, staff have focused on building even stronger relationships with families. We’ve introduced more regular parent evenings and continue to use Tapestry to share children’s progress and special moments.

Our website is also working really well, bringing in lots of new enquiries.

Forward planning - 2025 - 2026 we have to plans to redeveloped our outside area, with a new ground covering of artificial grass a new adventure climbing area, sensory area along with a natural section for wildlife. We hope this will start to take place in the summer of 2026.

Policies

All policies have been updated and are signed by myself on behalf of the management committee, any policies that need to be overseen with members of staff who have officer roles they also will sign agreement with the policy. The policies will meet new legislation and requirement’s, some are to protect the preschool, staff and committee.
