About the Committee

The Management committee discuss any matters that arise this can include new legislation, regulations, employment, recruitment, training, the setting, updates, resources and fundraisers. All trustees are to make decisions in the best interest of the preschool and not personal decisions that would benefit themselves, Conduct of a trustee must be professional at all times and not cause any conflict or damage to the preschool, Any decisions are made by the way of a majority voted, the chairperson will only vote in the event of a tie, Over the years becoming a trustee is more difficult with legal legislation, financially, knowledge pressures, at the preschool we do have opportunities to gain knowledge through Suffolk CPD training, we do have a reserves funds account to cover maximum finances, including the lease, redundancies etc, so we are in a good position as a Committee. Blundeston Pre-School is regulated by the Early Years Alliance, Suffolk County Council and Ofsted, before members can attend committee meetings an enhanced DBS check and joining the update service needs to be applied for through the Ofsted gateway, an ey2 form for Ofsted which will include a medical form to be completed by your GP and sent to Ofsted for a Ofsted suitability letter to be obtained, confidentiality forms are to be completed as well as the preschool pledge, the small fee for the DBS is refunded by the

preschool up on receipt

We operate with 7 members of staff who do an amazing job of learning and developing the children daily, all staff have their safeguarding, paediatric first aid, health & hygiene, Nicky is our setting manager, Nicky is also our senco (Special educational needs co-ordinator), Charlotte is the setting’s deputy manager, Charlotte is also the settings Safeguarding lead, (other roles) staff regularly take the opportunity to attend other courses to personal develop themselves and keep up to date with ongoing changes in the childcare sector, all staff have recently signed up to some amazing courses.

Our health & hygiene and scoring the preschool a 5 * hygiene rating so well done.

We have had a busier than expected start to the new academic year with 69 children on role with more starting over the next few months and in the new year.

The preschool Facebook page is going well and is very helpful for reminding people about events and general preschool information. The page is not for absences, extra session as staff don’t have access to Facebook during working hours and when they are at home not only this is out of working hours, they don’t have access to the role and rota to always be able to answer, so the preschool to be contacted directly by phone call or text.

Staff have spent the year building better parent partnerships with more regular parent evenings and the use of tapestry.

The preschool website is going well, we have had lots of enquiries through the website, Emma continues to update when required.

Adoption

All policies have been updated and are signed by myself on behalf of the management committee, any policies that need to be overseen with members of staff who have officer roles they also will sign agreement with the policy. The policies will meet new legislation and requirement’s, some are to protect the preschool, staff and committee.

Finishing Committee

The committee has been good over the last year whilst I have been chairperson, with true dedication they have been very strong and supportive and I appreciated everything you have done thank you.
