**Trustees’ Report for year ended 31[st] January 2023**

## **The trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31[st] January 2023.**

In this reporting year we are building upon the success achieved through our various community integration initiatives.

## **- Events in person and online:**

We continued our meetings with parents and their disadvantaged children. The focus of the sessions ranged from giving academic guidance, counselling and support for parents whose children were almost being excluded from School. More parents became aware of the free resources available and how to use them. We followed up and engaged with parents whose children were almost excluded from school.

## **- Mentorship:**

The following continued:-

- a. Spiritual guidance rooted on the word of God, students were guided on how to build a relationship with God, raise their aspirations, build values that make them noble members of the society and build habits which lead to success and fulfilment in life.

- b. Guidance on personal effectiveness including time management and resource planning.

- c. Guidance on academic success, students where shown free resources on personal wellbeing, students were trained how to use free online resources including Maths, Science and English revision sites like BBC Bitesize, Cognito, Seneca Learning and Corbett Maths etc.

   - Most of the students mentored made positive strides and became more focused on their studies.

- d. We also ran focus events to help young people identify their potential and also provided them with the guidance and support they needed to do so. We used various tools to help them determine their interests, cognitive ability in various fields and personality tests to help them determine their area of strength. We further provided guidance and support on how they can pursue their choices, develop themselves and maximize their potential.

## **Website relaunch:-**

The links on our website enabled more adults to access free training for life skills, understanding T-Levels and access services provided by the London borough of Haringey relating to career development and personal wellbeing.

## **Tuition:-**

Tuition for Maths and Science was provided for 30 weeks during the year, Maths Tuition was extended for 50+ students online. Students logged in from the London borough of Haringey, Manchester, Scotland, and Plymouth. We again had very positive feed-back from many parents about the difference the sessions made in the children's life.

## **- Community events:**

Community events during the year included Church Launch Service, Parents conference, Counselling and empowerment workshops, birthdays, funeral gatherings and other social events. We were able to share what we do for various communities including tuition, mentoring, career guidance and prayer.

We organised parents’ conferences which provided the opportunity to engage various communities within our local area of Haringey and beyond. We used our church as a Platform to bring the various communities to interact with each other in a positive way. Members of different communities were able to disclose the challenges that young people face, for example barriers to education, knife crime, gangs, mental health etc We also discussed together ways for better solutions to these problems, by getting the Church, parents and the communities to work together with the authorities.

## **Birthdays and Funerals**

Birthdays and Funerals also provided opportunities to connect with and support the community. To help members celebrate their birthdays, we provided the food, venue and entertainment and allowed the celebrant to invite friends and community members to celebrate with them. This created a positive environment for various members of the community to interact in a celebratory atmosphere, thus helping them to understand and get along with each other.

During funerals we also helped members of the community who have lost loved ones by running the church service, providing counselling and emotional support and providing a supportive environment where they can get peace, quiet and support that they mentally needed at that time. In that way we helped support the mental health of members of the community.

## **Empowerment Conferences:-**

Our Empowerment conferences were also popular events where parents and other adults were advised about Adult Educational Courses that could help them develop themselves and find alternative routes to the careers of their choice, thus increasing their earning potential and fulfilment in life.

Our conferences also educated parents on the dangers of County line Gangs and other distractions and dangers that can derail, distract or stop their children from fulfilling their potential. We also provided them with strategies and supported them in the process of guiding, monitoring and supporting their children so that they can avoid these dangers and focus on developing themselves to their full potential.

## **Courses and Seminars:-**

We continued the Fulfilling Destiny courses via zoom on Wednesdays, these courses included teaching biblical principles which enable young people to build confidence and compassion.

We ran church services and seminars during the year which helped people to develop spiritually.

The trustees’ report was approved by the Board of Trustees.
