Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	- The advancement of education throughout England and Wales for the public benefit through the provision of supplementary tutorials to increase the basic literacy and numeracy skills of disadvantaged families. - The relief of financial hardship among people living in Sri Lanka by providing such persons with goods and services which they could not otherwise afford through lack of means.

Para 1.17 and 1.19	A tutoring service is offered to disadvantaged students in the UK with the aim of improving social mobility. Furthermore, the main public benefit is achieved through grants to families in Sri Lanka, helping to alleviate hardship and advance education in a developing country, which has been affected by several years of civil war. Grants are targeted in the area of education, small business development and healthcare.

Policy on grant making	Para 1.38	Although the financial grants are used to support the education of children in Sri Lanka, the organisation seeks the support of parents and ensures that they are committed to the education of their child. This will ensure the

		proper use of funds and ensures that it is not used for other short-term spending.

Contribution made by volunteers	Para 1.38	Volunteers paid a key role in the charity’s relief efforts, with a group of 20+ tutors contributing to fundraising efforts by offering regular classes to children in the UK. We also had one key volunteer on the ground in Sri Lanka, who served as the main contact point with families receiving financial aid, and reported to the trustees on a regular basis.

Para 1.20	Following the one-off receipt of funds from Lycamobile, which was largely directed to special projects in Sri Lanka, the charity supplemented this with recurring donations from the parents of students receiving tutoring classes. As the final Covid-19 restrictions lifted, tutoring activity in the UK slowed during 2023, but were sufficient to keep up with regular monthly payments to beneficiaries.
