Section C Objectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
The object of the CIO is to relieve the needs of persons aged up to 25 years who have or may have special educational needs (SEN) or additional support needs (ASN) and the primary carers of these persons by the following means: 3.1 by providing support and guidance to such persons; 3.2 by tackling discrimination affecting such persons; 3.3 by gathering evidence and undertaking research regarding the needs of such persons 3.4 by signposting other sources of help; and 3.5 by such other means (being charitable in law) as the trustees may from time to time consider appropriate.

Carrying out of training workshops such as “Know your Rights” which empowers parents to know more about the rights of children with SEN, and “What assessment?” to demystify the assessment process for SEN. Research in a range of topics, this year we have continued our focus on children categorised as having Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who have undiagnosed Cognitive and Communication needs, and are seeing lots of looked after children with this categorisation, and so will be focussing on that next year. Mentoring families where appropriate.

Section D Achievements and performance
Delivery of workshops which have empowered families to know and Summary of the main enforce the rights of their children. This has led to families submitting and achievements of the charity winning appeals at tribunal for their children in order to secure during the year appropriate education. Several children categorised as SEMH have been reassessed and have had their real SEN discovered and supported.
