Objectives
The Great Mission for Kenya is a CIO, registered on 16th February 2021, under a governing Constitution. The objectives of the CIO are as follows:

The prevention or relief of poverty, either generally or individually, of people living in Kenya by providing grants and items and services to individuals in need and/or charities or such other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty;

The advancement of education in particular (but without limitation) by providing financial and other forms of support for children and young adults in Kenya;

The relief of sickness and the preservation of health among people residing permanently or temporarily in Kenya; and
-
The advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the Statement of Faith.

The method to recruit and appoint new charity trustees is as follows:
Apart from the first charity trustees, every charity trustee must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. All charity trustees must subscribe and adhere to, in belief and lifestyle, the Statement of Faith.
The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.
Review of the Year
Income represents restricted and unrestricted donations, plus related gift aid received from HMRC, and amounted to £36709 in the year ended 31 March 2024. During the 12 months ended 31 March 2024 £36437 was sent to Kenya in line with the objects noted above. The resulting year end bank balance was £483.
During this period GMK donations to Jukumu Kuu helped fund the teachers salaries at the Dolphin Academy, Kamwaura in addition to aiding the construction of new classrooms.
We continued to support several young people through their further education in the hope that they will soon gain employment. We continued to support the Great Commission Medical Centre, which provides essential services in the poor area of Dundori. Several grants made were administered to help with food needs for a number of people suffering due to the inflation crisis. Grants were made to help a young widow and her children following her bereavement.
Grants were also made to a young woman suffering with an illness that was affecting her education.
Reserves Policy
The CIO holds enough in reserve to cover incidental administration costs.
All other reserves can be spent as and when required because the CIO has no salaries or overheads to cover. This policy will be reviewed should the CIO start to incur any fixed costs.
As a not for profit charity, The Great Mission for Kenya will distribute all of its income in line with its above objects, notwithstanding that in any particular accounting period a temporary surplus or deficit may be recorded.
Risk Assessment
The trustees are satisfied that adequate consideration has been given to the major risks that the charity is exposed to and the likelihood of these risks occurring. The CIO has no employees and no premises.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of The Great Mission for Kenya Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Charity Number 1193544) on the Accounts for the Year Ended 31 March 2024 set out on Pages 3 and 4.
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above CIO for the year ended 31 March 2024.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the charity trustees of the CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (”the Act”).
I report in respect of the examination of the CIO’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent Examiner’s Statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
- the accounting records were not kept in respect of the CIO as required by section 130 or the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
