Objectives
The objects of the CIO are:

to promote and further the craft of beekeeping within the County of Hertfordshire.

to advance the education of the public within the County of Hertfordshire in the importance of bees in the environment.
Activities
Our activities in 2025, consisted of many community events where the public could interact with our charity. Our training programme continued its normal in-person format with 25 new beekeepers being trained and supported during the year. During the summer we attended a number of local events where we able to inform and educate the public on the importance of the work we do. We continued our outreach programme of talks to various gardening and community groups, educating the public on the importance of bees and the benefits to the environment of beekeeping. In 2025, the surge of the non-native invasive Asian Yellow Legged Hornets (AYLH) Substantially increased across the southern counties, there were reports from Wales and Cheshire along with a nest being found in Huntingdonshire. As an association, we continued our monitoring duties of the AYLH, none were observed in our region. The AYLH will have a very detrimental effect on the environment, mostly felt by beekeepers as the AYLH prey on honeybee colonies. We have continued our program of education along with offering each member of the association a targeted hornet trap so that we can catch and monitor for AYLH in North Hertfordshire. We took every opportunity to make the public aware of the very real danger these AYLH pose to the environment.
Governance
The were no matters that needed any attention. The Trustees have delegated management of NHBKA to an Executive Committee which comprises most of the trustees plus function leads. We met twice during 2025.
Grants
No grants were given.
Annual General Meeting
The next AGM of NHBKA will take place on the 25[th] February 2027 at Sadie Centre, Mind Hertfordshire Network, Letchworth Garden City.
