Investnient Powers The Trustees may invest any moneys required to be invested in or upon the security of such StocK Funds, Shares. Secutities and other investments for the time being authorised by law for the investmeTJt of Trust moneys with powei to the Trustees to vary such investhlents for others of a like nature. References to the Club in subsequent paragraphs refer to the activities of the CIO. 4. Lions Club Objectives To create and foster a spirit of understanding amongst the people of the world. To piomote the principles of good government and good citizenship. To take an active interest in the civic. social and moral welfare o! the community. To unite the Clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding. To provide a forum for the open dI￿SsIon of all mattets of public interest. provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by Club members. To encourdge service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward and to encourage dficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industy, professions. public works and private endeavours. Trustees Report The Trustees present their annual Report and AcC￿nts for the year ended 30 June 2024. The object of the Club is to support geneTal Charitsble causes through its fund-raising activities and donations received. Trust moneys may, at the discretion of the Trnstees and with the agreement of the Club Members. be invested or dpnated to charitable cause5. To facilitate donations, a Community Services Committee (CSC) considers worthwhile welfare recipients and Tnakes recommendations to the Club and TTUStees. Some donations fall outside the CSC remit-i.e. donatioThs to LCtF appeals. to groups and chaiities or proposed by individual club members. Such donations are approved by the Club at business meetings. The Board of Directors that includes the TTUStees meet 4 times a yeai to discuss various club matters including any concerns relating to policy and perforniance of the Ttust in achieving its objectives.   1. Review of Trust Activities The Duck Derby and Swimarathon We￿ held as norn]al. The Lions fun train was also operated at public feles. Vouchers and Hampers were gtven in lieu of Christmas parcels. An appeal to help relieve fuel poverty yielded donations of £3629 (including Gift Aid) and grdnts were made to applicants through Citizens Advice East Berks. The revenue earned from fund raising activities enabled substantial grants and awards to individuals, to local charities and groups and to Lions Club International appeaIs. Details are set out on pages 2 and 3 of the finance report. The total distributed was £46175. The Trust continued to distribute funds for Youtk Development from money received from the Estate of a local citizen. A Prostate Testing Event is to be held in the 24125 year together wÈth a Talent competition for Juniors which will benefit the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Care Most of our events were sponsored by donations in the year from: Swimarathon Train Operations Louis Baylis Charitable Trust Lanz Group Shanly Foundation Shanly Foundation Louis Baylis Charitable Trust Shanly Foundation Duck Derby Prostate Testing Event Storage faeilFties

  5. Responsibilities of the Trustees of Lions Club of Maidenhead CIO The Ttustees ￿ognise their responsAbilities for keeptng proper accounting records and preparing a financial statement each year. An independent examination of the accounts is required and this has been carried out bi". Mr Dermot Woolliscroft ACA.

  6. Investment Policy The Trustees aim to distribute funds raised as quickly as possible to charitable causes but will invest those moneys not immediately required in a bat& deposit account to enable interest to acctue
  7. Reserves Policy There are three restiicted funds. l) The Geoff Hill tnheritance Fund, which is being distributed to local youth in accordance with the executors, directions. The balance of this ￿nd is now £670 and it 15 likely to be exhausted in the current year. 2) The Wintei Warmth Fund, which has been ¢Teated by specifi¢ donations and is restricted to assisting applicants in dilriculty with heating costs. The balance of this fund is £2066. 3) The Equipment replacement fun(t whtch will be used to support renewal of the Lions Fun Train and other assets is now £10102. The ba]ance of unrestiicted reserves totsRling £62691 will support the continuing community and ¢harttable donations by the Club. The Club is committed to a Prostste Testing event at a total cosi of £185(M). Donations are being sought from local charities to support this event but the cost to the Club may be substantia] and reserves are retained to cover this.
