ANNUAL REPORT
The Trustees present their Annual Report together with the Financial Ststements of the
Washing Machine Project Foundation for the Year ended 19 July 2024. The Financial
Statements compty with the Charities Art 2011 and the Statement of Recommended Prdctice
applicable to Charities preparin8 their accounts in accordance with FRS 102 the Financial
Reportlng Standard appllcable In the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS1021 (effective 20191
OWEcfivES AcfiviTIES AND PERFORMAN
The Washing Machine Project Foundation IThVMPF) was incorporated as a Charitable
Incorporated Organisation on 10th February 2021. The charity funds artivities to provide relief
from financial need or sufferin8 amongst vittims of war or natural or other kinds of disaster,
trouble or catsstrophe. The Foundation focuses on funding Ofganisations to undertake
research and develop and deploy practlcal solutlons to everyday problems.
In the Year to 19 July 2024, the charity secured funding of £239,669 to support its objectives.
Most of the funds We￿ the direct result of fundralslng from prlmarlly corporate sources, with
smaller indlvldual giving adding to the funds from corporate sources. The main activities of
TWMPF during this peri¢)d have been liaising with its corporate partners and 8fdntees and
Smprovln8 Its reporting and impact monitorin8 procedures to ensure the appropriate
dlstribution of funds in line with the Foundation's objects. TWMPF has no staff and its
everyday activities are mana8ed by the Trustees.
Trustees have been recrulted for thelr varbous areas of expertlse (Englneerlng, Research,
Finan￿, Busine55 operations and Charity Govemancel. Future recruitment will be through
open processes, again recruiting against needs of the Foundation at the given time. The
Trustees have been meetlng on a re8ular basls throu8hout the year under review, with
change5 in the Board only due to changes in personal circumstanos.
Fundralslng Artlvities
Corporate Pdrtnershlp5
Most of TWMPF'S funds have been recefved through the Foundatton's three-year Strateglc
Partnership wlth the RS Group. a gbbal omnl-channel solutions partner for industrlal
customers and suppllers, agreed In Aprll 2021. Thls partnershlp Includes encouraglng the
Group's employees, customers and suppliers to contribute through fundrdising and
volunteering activities. In the period covered by this rep)rt. a totsl of £203.296 was raised
through this partnership. TWMPF is currentty explorin8 the possibility of extending its
partnership with the RS Group beyond the current three-year period. It is also in advanced
discussions with two otherfunding partners to support its work.
Just Giving
Individuals and smaller organisations are also able to support the activty of TWMPF through

it's Just Givi￿8 webpage. Thi5 method has also been used by groups of staff from RS Group to
deposit smaller funds from their indNidual or site specific fundraisin8 activity. Receipts from
Just GNing were £24,935 forthe yearended 19 July 2024.
Other
A further £11,438 was raised through other fundraising platfoms and direct donations from
individual supporters.
GRANT MAKIt4G
During the period under revlew, there ha5 been one reclpient of funds - The Washing Machine
Project CIC ITWMPI. TWMP is an organisation set up to alleviate the burden of hand washin8
clothes in refugee camps and low and middle-income countries. TWMP has developed land
now deployed) an affordable off_grid manual crank washing machine, the Divya. It is the only
machine of its kind to be developed for humanttarian purposes and requires no electricity to
operate. Handwashlng clothes Is recognlsed 35 belng a major barrier to education for low-
income and displaced people around the world, and disproporbonately impacts women and
children. This repetitive, demandin8 task, which can tske upwards of 20 hours per week, often
also leads to chronic back and }oint pain.
The Trustees are expertln8 this relationshlp with TWMP to continue into the next Financial
Year. due to the corporate relatlonshlp wlth ps Components. The Foundation Is also working
closely with TWMP to tdentffy new Income streams from charitable foundatlons and other
corporate partner5.
Durin8 the period covered in this report. the Foundation granted TWMP a total of £59,031,
wlth a large grant of £224.308 scheduled for October 2024, wh￿h supported the buildin8 of
Divya 1.65 machines.
Impact of FurKlln8
Through the funding and support given from the Foundation to TWMP the followlng Impacts
have occurred in the reportin8 period.
Uganda 24
TWMP conducted 2 programs in Uganda, one centred around Kampala, the second focused
onthe Southwestofuganda. Inthe case ofboth pro8rams.TWMPworkedwith Inpart Uganda
to distribute 28 machines. impacting over 2.200 people. Dtstributions took several forms, from
individual households. schools and women's savings groups. These distributions allowed
TWMP to explore different modallties and tralning methods and have created a base for
TWMP to dellver further programming.
Kenya 24
TWMP distributed 5 machines to Shèngilia School in Nairobi. The sthool on the outskirts of
Nairobi 5UPPOrts children from famllies that live in the area around the school. They work
with local authorities and support children who have been identified a5 being at risk.

South Africa
TWMP worked in conjunction with Ja8uar Land Rover's Reach initiative to build and distribute
ten washing machines to a community in Deipslot in Johannesburg. The program was part of
Jaguar Land Rover s efforts to 5UPPOrt the community. The machines have impacted the lives
of 500 people.
USA Wash day5
TWMP has conducted several events where vdunteers from RS Group. washed homeless
people's clothes using a Divya Washing Machine. Working With the True Worth Place Shelter
in Fort Worth, Texas, TWMP has positlvety Smparted the Ilves of over 50 people.
Dlvya 1.65
TWMP has been workin8 on the development of Divrd 1.65 Since August 2022. The past year
has seen the Dlvya 1.65 move Into production wtth over 400 machines produced acr055
multiple locations. This has proven the development V￿rk of TWMP to c￿￿e a flat pack
machine that can be assembled with hand tools.
FUTURE PLANS
The Foundatlon will continue to support TWMP throu8h Its contlnued strate8lc partnershlp
w¢th RS Group. It looks forward to expandin8 Tts impact further in the comin8 year, with the
continued development of Divya 1.65 and additional distributions planned. TWMPF will also
support TWMP in their efforts to reduce the cost of the Divya by establishing a
manufacturing facility in India.
The Foundation is grateful for the support of rts partners, voluntèèrs, and donors during the
repoffjng period. The combined efforts of the Foundation. T*VMP, RS Group, and other
partner5 has enabled the succe55ful developmenti prod￿lI0n, and distribution of Di*ya 1.65
washin8 mathines to communities in need.
The Foundation will continue to focus on research. development. and deployment of practical
solutions to everyday problems, helping individuals and communities affected by war, natural
disasters. and other catastrophes.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Durin8 the reporting period, The Washing Machine Projert Foundation received a total of
£239,669 in donations, down from £294,914 in the previous perK)d. The funds came
prlncipalty from donations from the RS Group. Expenditure was £61,466 compared to
£350,219 in the previous period. £59,031 of this was grants to The Washing Machlne Prolect
CIC. Net income/Expenditure in the year was a surplus of £178,516 compared to a deficit of
E55.305 in the previous period. This was due tothe timing ofgrants toThe Washing Machine
Project CIC with a si8nificant grant1£224,3081 planned for Oct¢Jber 2024. Total reserve5 were
£215.766. up from £37,250 in the period to 19July 2023.

The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered with the Charity Commission on
