Annual Report for the Year ended 19 July 2023 ANNiIAL REpoirt The Trustees present their Annual Report together with the Financial Statements of the Washing Machine Project Foundation for the Year ended 19 July 2023. The Financial Statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 and the Statement of Recommended Prnctice applicable to Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with FR5 102 the Financial Reporttng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. OBJEcfivES AcnvmES AND PERFORMANCE The Washir8 Machine Projert Foundation IVNMPFI was incorporated as a Chèrltable Incorporated Organisatlon on 10th February 2021. The charity fund5 activities to provide relief from financSal need or sufferin8 amon8St victims of war or natural or other klnds of dlsaster, trouble or catsstrophe. The Foundation focu5e5 on fvnding organisations to undertake research and develop and deploy practical solutions to everyday probm5. In the Year to 19 July 2023. the charity secured fundin8 of £294,914 to support Its objettlves. Most of the funds were the direct result of fundraising from primarily corporate 50urce5, Wlth smaller individual givirE adding to these funds. The funds have been used for the purposes explalned below. The main activitie5 of TWMPF durin8 thls tSme have been Ilalslng wlth our corporate partners and 8rantee5 and improvin8 our reportlng and Impact monltorlng procedures to ensure the appropriate distribution of funds in line with the Foundation's objects. TWMPF has no staff and its eveaY activities are managed by the Twstees. Trustees have been recruited for their various areas of experhse {Engineering, Research, Finance, Business operations ènd Charity Governance). Future recruitment will be through open processes, again recruitsn8 against needs of the Foundètion at the given time. The Trustee5 have been meetin8 on a regular basis throughout the year under review, with changes in the Board only due to changes in personal circumstanos. Fundralsln8 Artlvhles Corporate Partnershlp$ Most of the funds have been received through the Foundation's three-year strategic Partnership with the PS Group, a global omni-channel solutions partner for industrial Customers and supplters, agreed in April 2021. This partnership includes encouraging the Groups employees, customers and suppliers to contribute through fundraislng and volunteering activitres. In this rep(rting period, a total of £252.966 had been raised through thi5 partnership. Other CorF)orate Partnerships are under discussion to further sUPPOrt the work of the Foundatton. This method has also been used by groups of staff from RS Group to deposlt smaller funds from their individual or site specific fundraising activity. GRANT MAKING In this initial perlod of operations. there has been one main recipient of funds, The Washing Machine Project CIC ITWMP cic). fwMP CIC is an organisation set up to alleviate the burden of hand washing clothes in refugee carnps and low and middle-income countries. The CIC has developed land now deployed) an affordable off-grid manual crank washing machine, the DIa. It 15 the only machine of its kind to be developed for humanitarian purposes and requires no electricity to operate. Handwashing clothes is recogni5ed as being a major barrier to education for low-income and displaced people around the world and disproportionatelv impacts women and children. This repetitive. demanding task. which tan take upwards of 20 hours per week, often also leads to chronic back and joint pain. The Trustees are expecting this relatlonship wlth the CIC to continue into the next financlal year, due to the corpornte reladonship with RS Components. The Foundation will also be examining how to broaden actrvity as new corporate partnerships are developed. Impartof Fundlnt Through the funding and sUPPOrt given from the Foundatlon to the CIC the following impacts have occurred in the reportin8 period. USA Homeless TWMP has provided a significant boost to hy8iene a(5$ for homeless individuals in Portland, Ofegon IUSAI by donats'ng washing machines to two charities: Agape Village and Hygiene4AII. This initiative has ensured that over 12,IX)O people have benefitted from clean clothes thanks to the Divya washin8 machine. Agape Village offer5 temporary housiTra. a critical Stepping stone for homeless individuals to rebuild their Irves. AC$$ to basic amenities like showers and laundry facilities is essential for their residents. With the help of a resourceful Eagle Scout. a dedicated shelter was constructed to house the Dr¥ya machine. enabling residents to conveniently wash their clothes. Hygiene4AII is a community-driven or8ani5ation that provides vital WASH Iwater, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities. along with coun5elling and supp)rt Services, to Portland's homeless

Their centre experiences a high lluMe of visitors daily, and the Dlvya machine has become a well-UlIsed resource. ensuring clean clothes for everyone who needs them. Poland In August 2022, TWMP CIC partnered with RS Poland to deliver essentlal laundry facilitres to Ukrainian refugees in Warsaw. Recognizing the urgent need, they donated five washing machines and one dryer to the Warsaw Humanitsrian Expo. which housed the largest oncentration of refugees lover 4,CIJOI in Poland at that time. The Expo Served not only as a ternpor3ry residence but also as a transit hub for onward travel wÉthin Europe. increasing the number of refugees who could benefit from the dean clothes provided by the washlng machine5. Over the six months that the washing machlnes were in operation at the centre, they positively imparted over 14,CK)O people. USA Wash days TWMP CIC has conducted several events where volunteers from RS Group washed homeless people's clothes using a Divya Washing Machine. Workin8 with the True Worth Place shelter in Fort Worth, Texas IUSAI TWMP CIC has POSitSvely impacted the lives of over 45 people. Uganda 23 testln8 TWMP CIC in May and June 2023 conducted a field researth trip that included providing 2 machines for long-term testing. The machines were with Joshpine. a foster mother to 11 chlldren. and a women's group for mothers of disabled children. In total, the two machines have impacted 62 lives. Joshplne shared that she 15 'no longer scared of her laundry,. It has also meant that the mothers of Isu have more time to spend caring for their children and more money to spend on their children's medicine. Dlvya 1.65 TWMP CIC has been working on the development of Divya 1.65 since August 2022, This is the latest iteration of the Divya washing machine. Significant improvement5 have been made in the design of assembly of the machine, allowing for a flat pack design of the washing machine with assembly requiring only hand toob and ensuring ease of assembly In varlous locatlons and settln8S Outside of a factory. The new design also makes the machines easier to repair. The use of an alkmetal design has lowered the weight and cost of the machine. Further improvements include the atiachment of wheels and a tsp to the design. All deslgn work has and is based on research and feedback from users and their interactions with the machines. FUTURE PLANS The Foundation will continue to support the Washing Machine Project CIC through its continued strategic partnership with the RS Group. We look forward to expanding our im pact further in the coming year, with the continued developmerst of Divya 1.65 and additional distributions planned.

The combined efft)rts of the Foundation. The Washing Machine Project CIC, RS Group, and other partners have enabled the successful development, produttion, and distribution of Divya 1.5 and 1.55 washing machines to communines in need. The Foundation will continue to focus on research. development. and deployment of practical solutions to everyday problems. helping individuals and communities affected by war, natural disasters, and other catastrophes. FINANCIAL REVIEW During the reporttng period. The Washing Machine Project Foundation received a total of £294,914 in donations, up from £185.494 in the previou5 period. The funds came principally from donations from the RS Group. Expenditure was £350,219 compared to £92,399 in the previous period. £348,( of this was grants to The Washing Machine Project CIC. Net income/Expenditure in the year was a deficit of £55.305 compared to a surplus of £92,939 in the previous period. This was due to the s18nificant InC05e in grant5 to The Washing Machine Project CIC. Totsl reserves were £37,250. down from £92.555 In the period to 19 July 2022.
