The Washing Machine Project Foundation Trustees, Annual Reportforthe Period ended 19July 2022 ANNUAL REpoirr The Trustees present their Annual Report tO8ether with the Financial Statements of the Washing Machine Projert Foundation ft)r the period ended 19 Juty 2022. The Financial Statements comply wtth the Charities Art 2011 and the Statement of Recommended Prdctice applicable to Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with FRS 102 the Financial Reportfng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. OBJECTIVES ACTwinES ANO PERFORMANCE The Washing Machine Project Foundatlon ITWMPFI was incorpordted as a Charitable Incorporated Organlsatlon on 10th February 2021. The charlty funds actfvitles to provide relief from financial need or sufferin8 amongst victims of war or natural or other kinds of disaster, trouble or catastrophe. The Foundatlon focuse5 on fundin8 organisatlons to undertake research, develop and deploy prattical solutions to everyday problems. Since inception, the charity has Secured fvnding of £185,494 to support its objectives. The funds are the direct result of fund raising from primarily corporate sources, with smaller Individual 8ivin8 also adding to this amount. Funds have been used for the purposes explained in the Impact of Funding section of th report. This initial perlod of actlvlty has been focused on setting up the required processes, polic$ and prdureS to ensure the approprlate distributlon of funds in Ilne wlth the charlty's objects. Fundrnising ActlvltSes Corporate Partnetshlps The malorlty of funds have been recelbtd through the fOUlatIOn.5 three year Strateglc PartnershSp wlth the RS Group, an global omni<hannel solutions partner for Industrlal CUStomer5 and suppliers, a8reed in April 2021. This partnership includes encouraging the Group's employees, customers and suppliers to contribute through fundraising and volunteerlng actEvltles. To 19 July 2022 3 total of £142,733 had been raised through this partnership. Other Corp)rate partnerships are under discussion to further support the foundation's work. Just Gfvlng Individuals and smaller or8anisatlons are also able to support the activity of TWMPF through it's Just Giving webpage. This methcd has also been used by groups of staff from Fis Group to deposit smaller funds from thelr Indlvldual or slte spectfic fundrdising activtty. Receipts from Just GNing total £34,621 for the period to 19 July 2022.

The Washing Machine Project CIC is an or8anisation set up to alleviate the burden of hand washir8 clothes In refugee camps and low and middle-income countries. The CIC has developed land now deployed) an afford3ble off-grid manual crank washing rnachine. the Divya. It is tho onlv machine of its kind to be developed for humanitarian purposes and require5 no electricity to operate. Handwashing clothes is reco8nised as being a major barrier to educatlon for low- income and displaced people around the world. disprowrtionately impacts women and ¢hildren. This repetitive. demandin8 task, which can take upwards of 20 hours per week, often also leads to chronlc back and joint pain. The Trustees are expecting thls relatlonship with the CIC to continue into the next Financial Year, due to the corporate relationship Wlth RS Components. The Foundation will also be examining how to broaden activity as new corporate partnerships are developed. Development of Divyd 1.55: TWMP CIC aimed to design a manual washlng machlne that could use a hlgh-volume batch manufacturSr8 method, allowing for Trpid expansion of Impact. However, due to funding constraints, the focus changed to Meeti customers, Immediate needs by Iteran8 on the existin8 Dlvya 1.5 model. With the available fundin& TWMP CIC made sli8ht iteratlve Improvements to Divya 1.5 and en8a8ed wlth Bristol University for further testing. Corby Bulld and Dlstrlbutlon: TWMP CIC partred wlth RS Group to manufacture 30 Dlvya 1.55 washing machines using lis empeS. based on the sLKcessful build in Newport at the end of 2021. The build Involved 3CKI RS emplosees, and desptte challenges in securing stock and global supply chain issues, the build was completed Suc$$fully. Deployment of Humanltsrlan Soluilon$ Lebanon Dlstrlbutlon: 30 machines were distributed in Lebanon to support Ipredominantlyl Syrlan refugees through a partnership with Ur(ia Foundation. Thi5 includes user research Into the machine use and deslgn.
The Washing Mathine Project Foundation TTUStees' Annual Report forthe Period ended 19 July 2022 Iraq DistribUlk. 32 Dwd 1.5 washing machines were purchased by ca International Iraq and we distributed In the Mamrasham IDP camp. TWMP CIC joined thÈ distribution to Mamrashan IDP Camp in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq. The machines were distributed to Yazidi IDPS. focusing on female-headed households and households with members wlth dlsabilities. The dlstrlbution was split into two days115 washing machines distributed each dayl, and TWMP CIC and Care Intemational staff assisted wrth assembly and training sessions to ensure optimal use. Uganda Distributlon: Of the 32 machines produced in Corby. 21 were distriblrted in U8anda at two locatlons: 20 at Sserinya Primary School and one wrth the Change Makers Community Group In the Kira Munlclpallty slum. The dlstrfbuifon provlded essentlal supwrt to these communities and demonstrated the effectlveness of the Divp 1.55 washiryg machlnes. FUTURE PLANS The Foundation will contlnue to SUPPOrt the Washing Machlne Project CIC through its condnued strateglc partnershlp with RS Group. We look forward to expandin8 our impact further in the comin8 ar, with the continued development of Divya 1.65 and additlonal distribution5 planned. Future projects are expected to include a progrdm to create a community launderette in Nalrobi Kenya in April 2023. In the next flnanclal year, the Foundation will be seeklng additional Trustees to enhance its marketing and corporate partnershlp actlvity. The Washlng Machlne Project Foundatlon is grdtefvl for the support of 5ts partners, volunteers, and donors durlng the rep)rtlng perk)d. The comblned efforts of the Foundatton, The Washing Machine Project CIC, RS Group. and other partners have enabled the successful development, production, and distribution of DW 1.5 and 1.55 washin8 machines to communities in need. Trustee5 have been recruited for their various areas of expertise (Engineering. Research, Financial. Business operations and Charlty Governance). Future recruitment will be through open processes, a8ain recrutting against needs of the Foundation at the given time. The Trustees have been meeting on a Ular basis throughcxrt thi5 set up period, with changes In the Board due to chan8es in personal circumstsnces. FINANCIAL REVIEW During the reportin8 period. The Washin8 Mathine Project FOUndOn 1Ved a total of £185,494 in donations. The funds came from two main wurces: through corpordte donations, includlng a strateglc partnership with the RS Group, and from individuals through its Just Giving page. Grants to TWMP CIC amounted to £88,5(K). Net reipts in the period were £93.226, whilst totsl assets were £93,226, all cash in the bank.
