## **BEVERLEY MALE VOICE CHOIR** Trustees’ report for the period 01.07.2024 to 30.06.2025 ## **Charity details** Name: Beverley Male Voice Choir (BMVC) Registration number: 1193478 Corresponding address: 9 Barkers Mill Beverley East Riding of Yorkshire HU17 0UJ Trustees: Philip MacMullen Julian Musik Albert Newbery ## **Structure and management** BMVC is structured like many choirs. We have executive posts and section representatives. We also pay for the services of a Musical Director, an Assistant Director and an accompanist. We are managed by a committee with a number of executive and representative roles. Principal among these are: Chairman Deputy Chairman Secretary Deputy Secretary Treasurer Welfare Officer Concert Coordinator Section representatives for 1[st] Tenor, 2[nd] Tenor, Baritone & Bass. The committee meets three times per year and we have an AGM each year in July. All the above posts are advertised for, nominated and elected at the AGM. We invite members to become trustees. We need between 3-5 trustees and currently have 3 (as shown above). All trustees are de facto committee members and are involved in all decision making. ## **Activities and objectives in the reporting period** These are as stated in our constitution: We encourage participation in choral singing and provide a learning community of like-minded individuals. We rehearse regularly, perform concerts in a variety of venues and donate a proportion of the proceeds of those concerts to local good causes with the remainder used to cover our costs. ## **Achievements and objectives in the reporting period** We have delivered on our objectives during the reporting period but have made no direct payments to any nominated charities. This is because we have had to make provision for replacing our stock of uniforms during 2025/26. Instead we have performed a number of concerts at no cost for the benefit of local charities and our community. Details of these can be provided on request but feedback from the beneficiaries has been very positive. Our estimate is that we have provided community benefit during the reporting period of £10-15000. We are a very inclusive organisation. We do have a number of younger members but the profile of our members is generally >60 years. Sadly this means that members succumb to a range of illnesses and disabilities and each year some are lost. We are proud of the extent to which we support our members and their spouses by friendship, home visits, singing at funerals, etc. We are well regarded and supported by our local authorities (Beverley Town Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council) for performing _gratis_ at events like Remembrance Services. ## **Financial review, etc** In all respects we are a small organisation that keeps a tight control of its finances and has been comfortably financially liquid for many years. Our members support us via their subscriptions, we enjoy a good level of charitable donations and we claim Gift Aid as appropriate. I have examined the receipts and payments account, together with supporting documentation, of Beverley Male Voice Choir as set out above. In this connection nothing has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that the accounting requirements of Section 130 of the 2011 Charities Act have not been met, or that any further information is required to enable a proper understanding of the accounts.
