OBJECTIVES OF THE CHARITY

The overarching goal of Deptford Lionesses remains steadfast: to enhance the involvement of young girls in football and non-contact boxing within Deptford and its adjacent areas, thereby fostering community cohesion and ensuring inclusivity. Recognizing the existing gender disparities in sports participation, we are dedicated to eliminating barriers by providing free-of-charge sports sessions to all interested girls, thereby ensuring that no girl is left behind in their sporting journey.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

In the past year, Deptford Lionesses has continued its mission with unwavering commitment. We are proud to report that our efforts have resulted in significant achievements and tangible impacts within the community. Our provision of free sports sessions since 2021 has garnered remarkable support, with our members consistently showcasing dedication and skill, securing numerous victories in local competitions.

Moreover, our initiatives have not only encouraged increased female participation in sports but have also served as a catalyst for promoting gender equality and empowerment. Through various outreach programs, workshops, and mentoring initiatives, we have facilitated the development of leadership and teamwork skills among young girls, thus contributing to their holistic growth and development.

Our HAF camps, designed to provide a holistic experience encompassing food, arts & crafts, day trips, and physical education, have been met with resounding success. The overwhelming response received underscores the significant impact of such initiatives in addressing community needs and fostering a sense of belonging among participants.

Furthermore, our introduction of the NFL Flag program has garnered positive feedback and interest from girls across the borough, highlighting the effectiveness of tailored sports programs in engaging diverse demographics. The continued growth and success of our girls-only football development sessions reflect the effectiveness of our approach in creating a safe and inclusive environment for girls to thrive.

PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS

Looking ahead, Deptford Lionesses is poised to build upon its achievements and expand its reach in the community. Our future plans revolve around enhancing inclusivity and accessibility through the introduction of more inclusive programs and partnerships with local schools.

We aim to leverage our partnerships to reach underprivileged youth and offer them opportunities for participation in our sports programs, coupled with guidance on healthy lifestyles. Additionally, we plan to organize fundraising events to enhance our infrastructure and equipment, thereby furthering our mission of providing quality sports experiences to all.

In line with our commitment to inclusivity, we intend to introduce virtual training sessions and workshops to cater to individuals unable to attend in-person sessions, thereby ensuring that our programs remain accessible to all.

RESERVES POLICY

This policy emphasizes the maintenance of reserves at a level sufficient to mitigate risks and meet organizational commitments, while also ensuring a portion of reserves are readily accessible if needed.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES

The Charities Act 2011 imposes on trustees the duty to diligently prepare financial statements annually, ensuring they accurately reflect the Charity's financial status and surplus for the given period. In fulfilling this obligation, trustees are entrusted with several key responsibilities. They must carefully select appropriate accounting policies and consistently apply them. Furthermore, trustees are expected to exercise prudent judgment when making estimates and judgments, ensuring they are both reasonable and sound. Moreover, it is the trustees' responsibility to prepare financial statements based on the assumption that the charity will continue operating as a going concern, unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

In addition to financial reporting, trustees are accountable for maintaining comprehensive accounting records that provide a clear and transparent overview of the Charity's transactions. These records should be detailed enough to accurately portray the Charity's financial position and ensure compliance with legal requirements outlined in the Charities Act 2011. Furthermore, trustees are entrusted with the vital task of safeguarding the Charity's assets, necessitating the implementation of adequate measures for fraud prevention and detection.
