## **Introduction**
Our first annual report for the year 2021 to 2022 was an expression of frustration that our first year as a registered charity had been written off, with no fundraising action at all because of the problems we had with our bank. It was therefore a pleasure to start our second year being able to begin to put into action plans we had developed and had hoped to start implementing by the summer of 2021.
Being able to begin activities was welcomed not only by our trustees and volunteers but by many of our family members and friends who had shared our frustration and been very supportive and were now pleased to support us as we moved forward.
We had reported that we had been investigating other charities, organisations and researchers exploring the conditions of Cholangiocarcinoma and Hydrocephalus that are our primary interests and our knowledge has continued to grow. We have not yet made any financial contributions to any other organisation to support research, treatment, or care because as our second year since registration was in fact our first year of operation, we wish to raise more funds first.
## **Activities**
We had decided that we would try to organise a number of events that would both raise money and help to get our name known. We approached the Malvern based auction house run by Phillip Serrell, who is well known through many television programmes on antiques, to ask if they would include items we could gather together in one of their sales, explaining the items were being sold for charity and what we were seeking to do.
They agreed, and we went out with a public appeal for items to be included. We did this in conjunction with KEMP Hospice in Kidderminster, where Alane Harvey had received enormous support after her diagnosis with Cholangiocarcinoma. We did this because we wanted to do something in return for KEMP’s help for Alane and many other people and because their name, we hoped, would help attract attention including from the local press. It did, and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of the response from many people, particularly considering the prevailing economic conditions and cost of living crisis.
We took the items received to Serrell’s who said that as we were a charity and wished to raise as much money as we could, we should try to sell some of them directly to the public and they would take those that would go well through their auction where most of those attending were dealers. The auction was successful and we were grateful for their advice. It takes longer for us to sell the items directly to the public, but it has

proved good advice and we are making more money and learning a lot which we hope will also help us as we progress.
Participating in a number of events where charities and craftspeople were selling their goods has been very useful to us both for raising money by selling some of the less specialist and general items that had been donated to us and also to raise awareness through talking to people which has brought us additional support and donations.
## **Required information**
Income and spending – Total income in the financial year 2022-23 is confirmed as £840.34. No expenditure was made by the charity itself. Any expenditure in that period was relatively small, travelling, communications etc and was met by the trustees involved. No trustee has, or intends to make, any claim for these items.
Serious incidents – There were no serious incidents during this period.
Raising funds from the public – The charity did and does raise funds from the public. No professional fundraisers were used and none are currently engaged with the charity in any way. Equally, no commercial participators were or are involved with the charity.
Grants – The charity did not make any grants, nor did it receive any grants from national or local government or any other public or private body.
Income from outside the UK – None received or expected.
Income from Government contracts – AJHMC has no contracts with central or local government
Operating area – The charity did not operate outside of England and Wales.
Trustee payments – No payments have been made to any trustee for any reason and no trustee intends to make any claims for any payments for any activity undertaken on behalf of the charity in this period. No trustee has received or been promised any other benefit from the charity.
Employees – The charity has no employees.
Volunteers – The charity had six volunteers during this period, the three trustees plus three others who, with the trustees, discuss and plan activities and then put them into operation.
Financial controls – The trustees have discussed financial controls and believe they are adequate for the current activities of the charity. They will be reviewed again during the coming year as funds will we hope see further growth and then expect to keep them regularly under review.
