## **HELP** _**Trustees’ Report Part-Year**_ 

## _**8/2/21 - 31/8/21**_ 

## **Background** 

In September 2020 we were informed that in order to receive a Jimbo’s Grant of £14,347 from Leeds Community Foundation, we should convert HELP from unincorporated status to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and we took steps to make this conversion.   The Charities Commission approved the change on 8[th] February 2021, giving us the charity number 1193447. 

Lloyds Bank, with whom we had had an account since 2006, told us that the new charity required a new bank account, and we therefore applied for one.   Shortly after doing so the onset of covid caused a widespread lockdown with many people, including Lloyds Bank employees, working from home, and it took eight months before the CIO had its own account. 

We were informed that it was acceptable to run the unincorporated HELP and the CIO in parallel, and we continued to operate ‘old’ HELP to the end of the financial year at endAugust.   (In fact, we continued until 21 October 2021, when we received the new account for the CIO.) 

## **Part-Year February – August** 

From 8 February to the financial year-end on 31 August 2021 we regarded HELP CIO as dormant, incurring no expenditure and receiving no income, as all our normal activities were discharged by the unincorporated charity, with its existing bank account. However, as a separate legal entity, HELP CIO is required to submit accounts for this part-year, even though there was no income and no expenditure, and this has been done by our Treasurer. 

Apart from this requirement, there is nothing to report for HELP CIO for this period.

I have previously examined the accounts for the unincorporated charity Harehills English Language Project No 1138199 for the above period.   During this time the charity Harehills English Language  Project  CIO  No  1193447  was  dormant,  and  I  can confirm that the above statement showing neither income nor expenditure is correct.
