## **Trustee’s Report 2023**

## **2023**

The website www.wolveyvillagehall.co.uk continues to drive new interest and enquiries and as a result Wolvey Village Hall has continued to recover from Covid with bookings from new groups and individuals. Our Facebook page has also been used to regularly publicise events, which expands our audience from local posters and magazines and brings visitors in from outlying villages.

The worst of the very high energy costs of 2022 were mitigated with a fixed price contract, but for 2023 a new contract needed to be signed at approximately four times the previous unit rate. That contract has expired and a new contract signed for 2024 at a rate around double that of 2022, but half of those of 2023.

The charity continues to meet its objectives in its constitution, namely “the provision and maintenance of a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of Wolvey and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions, and in particular for use for meetings, lectures and classes, and for other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the condition of life for the said inhabitants”, but in addition the efforts of a team of volunteers raised £6240.83 for Village Hall Funds in the year, and donations totalling £2296.00 have been made to other charities. The popular Coffee Mornings and Soup & Roll events have been awarded “Warm Hub” status through WRCC

Work has continued towards the remodelling and refurbishment of the village hall, and particular thanks are extended to the Chairman and Treasurer of the Committee for their efforts. The £14,500 awarded by Warwickshire Green Shoots Fund towards environmental improvements has been supplemented by the award of two further grants that should enable the works to start in mid-2024 when the Hall will be closed for a short period.

Total revenue for the year was £30,976.87 with costs and expenses of £19,580.19, leaving a surplus of £11,233.83.

## **2024**

The Hall’s Hire Charges were reviewed and increased to take into account increased energy charges.

It is expected that the refurbishment and redevelopment of the Hall will happen in 2024 with a period of closure resulting in reduced hire fees. Efforts are being made to temporarily relocate as many events as possible to other local venues.

Thanks should be given to all members of the Committee and the Coffee Crew who work tirelessly to manage and maintain the hall and run fundraising events, and without whom this fabulous facility for the local community would not exist.
