Haddenham and the Parish council, but
unfortunately, they closed the scheme in
September 2023. ZeroCH will work wilh
the parish council to ensure there is a
successor. Public benefit: Reducing
the use of fossil fuels, the need to
manLrfacture cars and reducing C02
production benefiting society as a whole
and nature.
2. Repair Café (Object 1b))
Monthly
gathering in the village hall. and online
seNice. to repair portable items. We
aim to encourage repairing rather than
replaGiru as the logical first step when
things break. This is beGause we believe
repairing k88PS things out of landfill
incineration and reduces unne￿Ssary
consumption.. The Repair Café hopes
to be able to help tackle most repairs
where a little glue or a replacetnent
screw or part is needed. There will be
some things that the Repair Café is not
likely lo be able to fix - broken screens
on mobile phones for example. And it
has to draw the line where things are not
portable

3. Café Zero (Object 1c}) A communTIy
cafe running alongside the Repair Café
which provides a pla￿ to meet each
month tor refreshmenls and a chat wtth
displays about the ZeroCH the group's
work.

hotnemade and homegrown produ
thus reducing waste packaging and
protecting the environment by limiting
the use of artrficial fertilisers and
reducing the need for transport.

4. ReLeaf (Object 1 d}}- Aim to double the
tree Gover in the parish of Haddenham
by 2030. Oneof the village's goals in the
neighbourhood plan is for the parish to

5. Library ofThings (Object 1b})-Continue
to actively seek ways to create a 'Llbrary
of Things, that can be hired including, but
not limited to, tools. catering equipment
and furniture. The library negates the
need to purchase Items that would be
rarely used. Public benefrt: Reducing
the need for manufacture thus reducing
emissions.

6. Thermal Imaging Camera (Objed 2.) -
Zero Carbon Haddenham have a
handheld FLIR Thermal Imaging
Scanner
available
for
loan
to
Haddenham village residents. This
device is a camera which takes special
infra-red pictures which can be used to
reveal any hotspots caused by poor
insulalion where heat is escaping from
the walls. roof, windows or doors of a
property. For those who have used
ZeroCH's scanner in the past, this is a
completely new and improved device
with better resolution and the ability to
merge the thermal image with a
conventional photograph for better
identification of features.

7. Apple Press (Object 1c)} An apple
press
and
associated
equipmenl
(pasteuriser) is available for all residents
enabling them to make apple juice and
cider and save wasting apples. Public
benefit- Promoting discussion around
food waste and what sustainable
ommunities look like.
8. Bee Squared (Object 2.) ZeroCH to
provide a packet of wildflower seeds to
encourage residents. local schools and
community
groups
to
improve
biodiversity and be more environmentally
aware. The seeds are sown so as to
create a square metre (m ) of wildflowers
to encourage bees and other insects.
Public Benefit: Providing enhanced
wildlrfe habitat and potentially increasing
biodiversty. Benefit to society as a
whole and nature.

9. Recycling the tricky stuff (Object 1b})
There is a collection once a month. of
rtain items that cannot be recycled in

kept out of incinerators e.g. empty
medicine blister packs. contact lens
paokaging,

and Boots but empty medicine packets

10. Zero Waste Street Fo￿1 (objed 1 c)) - A
project that began in March 2024 to
reduce waste at the monthly Haddenhat
street food night at the village hall. by
both improving recycling collection and
encouraging the use of reusable glasses,
plates, bowls and cutlery rather than
disposables. Funded with a start-up
grant from the Bucks Council Waste
Prevention Fund.

Volunteers are critical to ZeroCH achieving
its objectives. The main activities where
volunteers were involved were:
1. Repair Café (up to 10 volunteers each
month including young people involve(i
in the Duke of Edinburgh award).
2. ReLeaf tree and hedge planting,
watering and maintenance (up to 20
volunteers at times which include some
groups from lor21 businesses).
3. The Thermal Imaging (up to 2

4. Helping with the various stalls that
ZeroCH presents to local events {up to 5
volunteers at each event).

December 2022 to September 2023.
Unfortunately. the Haddenham Electric
Vehicle Hire Club ceased to operate in
September 2023 as increased costs
meant that the club was unsustainable
tor our provider. The Parish Council is
currèntty exploring altemative options
with the assistance of ZeroCH.
However, the pilot wa8 an extremely
valuable experience that:
demonstrated the wability of car
sharing in the village in principle
supported ￿sidentS to live car-free
or reduce the number of cars in their
household
2. Repair Café (Object 1 b))- Has laken on
642 jobs and SL¢cceeded in fixing 498
items wilh a 78Yo repair success rate.
Advice has been given to owners on how
to repair their items thus keeping them
from being discarded and replaced by
new.
3. Café Zero (Objed 1c)) - Continues to
provide a place to meet each month for
refreshments and a chat wtth displays
about the ZeroCH

4. ReLeaf (Object 1d)) - Up to 200 trees
and 2500 hedging plants have been
planted by ZeroCH around the village in
many locations. Maintenance and
watering of the trees has become a
larger task as the plants gel established.
The team continues to oversee a tree
nursery to grow rts own trees from
locally collected seeds and cuttlngs.
The team wor* closely with the HPC to
realisetheir pledge to make Haddenham
carbon nwtral by 2030.
5. Library of Things (Object 1b))
Discussions
ongoing

the
Haddenham
and
Waddesdon
Community Board to provide SLJitable
facilities for the library. Aso. separately
in conversations with Share Bee which is
a Servi￿ that safely connects people
who want to lend with people who want
to borrow using an on-line system.
6. Themial Imaging Camera (Object 2)
There had been 67 loans of the themial
imaging
camera for the
season
November 2022 to February 2023.
£10 deposit I donation per night was
asked of users. On occasion people
have fourKI energy leaks from new
houses and were grateful to be able to
present the images captured to the
developer as evidence to get remedial
work done.
7. Apple Press (Object 1c)} - An online
booking process has been developed
and the availability of the press will be
promoted during the summer (2024 to
2025).
8. Bee Squared {Object 2)- Not pursued in
the ￿porting period. However, it is
hoped to be continued in the 2024 to
2025 period.

2024, we re￿iVed fvnds to the tune of
£2870 from the Thriving communities
fund a ¢ommunity grants scheme run by
Fairhive Homes. and this has enabled us
to continue with Ihe wllection of empty
medicine pill packets. To date we have
recycled more than 140Kg. 45Kg blister
packs. 57Kg storage media, 7Kg
statior7ery. 8Kg oral care. 2Kg contact
lenses, 21 Kg electrical cables.
