Structure and Management Global Music Academy is governed by a board of trustees who are responsible for overseeing the charity’s activities and ensuring compliance with its objectives and legal obligations. Trustees are recruited through an open application process, with candidates assessed on their skills and experience in music, education, or charity governance.
Activities and Objectives The primary objective of Global Music Academy is to bring musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds into UK primary schools to bridge cultural differences and provide economic opportunities for musicians. In the past year, we:

Delivered workshops and projects including:

May 2024 - Working with Accent music education hub in Warrington, we took 6 facilitators to deliver 68 workshops in 34 schools (facing 2000 primary school children)

June 2024 Working with CYM - the Centre for Young Musicians, part of Guildhall - we delivered three workshops with Louai Alhenawi for beginner, intermediate and advanced percussionist groups

June 2024 Working with Marsm a promoter specialising in music from the Arabic-speaking world, we delivered a two-day festival of Maqam music at Kings Place

August 2024 - we filmed music education resources with Louai Alhenawi for distribution by Charanga, used by 12,000 UK primary schools

November 2024 and March 2025 - ran music workshops in Brent schools with international musical trio Touki

December 2024 - provided professional development for Somalian band Durdur to produce school-appropriate workshops and assembly content (in collaboration with THAMES music hub)

February 2025 - collaborated with Sahba Academy, Manchester for a workshop with Nai Barghouti (touring with Marsm UK)

March 2025 - provided workshops in collaboration with THAMES music hub with British Bangladeshi artist Sohini Alam and Chinese music specialists Mike Skelton and Beibei Wang
Achievements and Public Benefit This year, Global Music Academy achieved significant milestones:

Reached 41 new schools, introducing children to new cultural perspectives through live music.

Undertaken our first music festival

Developed partnerships with Guildhall (CYM), Sahba, Marsm UK, to expand our reach. These activities demonstrate our commitment to providing a public benefit by fostering inclusivity and cultural education.
Financial Review The charity’s total income for the year was £64,572, with expenditures of £58,254. At the end of the financial year, we had a bank balance well in excess of our minimum of £1,000 available for unforeseen expenses. No debts were carried forward.
Custodian Funds Global Music Academy does not hold any funds as a custodian trustee.
