Objects of the charity
The Trustees shall hold the Capital and income of the Trust Fund upon trust lo apply the income and all or
such part or parts of the capital al such lime or limes and in such manner lo or for the public benefit, the
relief of sickness and the preservation of health by improving pain management through research into
improved diagnosis and treatment by funding research carried out in Universities and hospital sellings and
il is disseminated lo the publi¢, and by funding beller ways of informing patients about developments in
infectious diseases.
To provide grants and donations for such charilabfe purposes, for the public benefit, that are exclusively
charitable according lo the laws of EngL4nd and Wales as the trustees may from time lo lime determine.
The trustees have paid due regard lo guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what
activities the charity should undertake.
Grant making policy
The capital and income of the Trust is to provide only for the assistance or provision of funds as detailed in
the Conslilulion dated 4 February 2021. The Iruslees have sel up a website lo provide guidan￿ lo potential

Achievements and performance:
During the accounting period the Iruslees made no grants12024'. 4 lolalling £72,760).
Financial review and investment policy
There are no reslriclions on the charity's power to invest. The investment strategy is sel by the trustees for
period of five years and lakes account of demand for funds. The trustees consider the income
requirements. the risk profile and the investment managerfs view of the markel prospects in the medium
term. This strategy is sel within an overall policy which slates that the fund is to be invested in moderate
risk investments with a view lo ensuring that capital appreciation ol the fund exceeds inflation over ea¢h five
year period. The funds may be invested in any type of inveslmenl. Our strategy is reviewed with our
inveslrnenl managers annually.

The Trustees confirm that they did not receive any remuneration during the year, nor were they reimbursed
for any expenses.
Reserves pollcy '.
11 is the policy of the charity to maintain unrestricted funds, which are the free reserves of the Charity, al a
level which equates lo approximately six months expènditure. This provides sufficient funds lo cover
management and administration and support costs and lo respond to emergency applications for grants
which may arise. UnreslTiCted funds were maintained al this level throughout the year.
Risk management:
The trustees have examined the major slralegic, business and operational risks which the charily faces and
confirm that systems have been established lo enable regular reports lo be produced so that the necessary
steps Can be taken to lessen these risks.
Personal Ilabllity of Trustees and Conflicts of Interest '.
Trustees always consider mallers of conflict of inleiesl where relevant. In situations where any Iruslee may
be in conflict, those Iruslees abstain from voting and discussion. This is particularly relevant where the
trustees have personal connections with the beneficiaries of Ihe charity's funds such as Charity not for profil
organisalions and individuals.
The charity is an unincorporated trust and therefore personal liability of trustees is unlimited. However, the
activities of the charity as SLJch are that there Is very lillle exposure lo liability for the Iruslees. The Iruslees

have a 8trKI grant making policy and donations are nKJnilored to ensure that donations are being used as
Intended by the Trust.
Trustees. responsibilities in relation to the financial statements
Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Iruslees lo prepare financial slalemenls for
each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity s financial activities during the year and of
ils finan¢ial position al the end of the year. In preparing those financial slalements, the Iruslees are Tequired

slalemenls comply with the Charities Act 2011. They a￿ also responsible for safeguarding the assets of
the charity and hence fr)r taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other
irregularities. The Trustees confirm that the accounts comply with the goveming document.
Al present there are fourTruslees, the minimum allowed in the Trust Deed, with an unlimited maximum. The
first Trustees are enlilled lo hold office for lrfe.

As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the préparation of thè finaneial slatemenis in accordan
th the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Actl.
I report in respect ol my examination of the charity's financial slalemen15 carried out under s¢¢llon 145 of Ihe
2011 Act. In carrying out my èxamination I have followed all the applicable Direction5 given by the Charity

1 ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Annabels Foundation is a ch8rf(ab1e incorporated charity, registered with the Charity Cc4nmission number
1193422. The registered address is 1 Queens Rise, Richmond, Surrey. TW10 6HL.
1.1 ACCOUNTING CONVENTION
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the charity's conslilulion, the Charities Act 2011
and A¢counling and Reporting by Charities" the Slalement of Recommended Pradi¢e for charities applying
the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and UK Generally
Accepted Accounting Practi￿ as il applies from 1 January 2019. The charity is a Public Benefit Enlily as
defined by FRS 102.
The accounts have doparted from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo the exlenl
required lo provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of
Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statement of
Recommended Practi￿ which is referred to in the Regulations bul whi¢h has since been withdrawn.
The accounts are prepared in sterling, wh￿h the functional currency of the charity.
The accounts have been prepared on the historical cost convention modified for the revaluation of
investments. The principal accounting policies adopted are sel out below.
1.2 GOING CONCERN
Al the time of approving the accounts. the trustees have reasonable expectation that the charity has
adequate resources lo continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees
continue lo adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparation of the accounts.
1.3 CHARITABLE FUNDS & FUND ACCOUNTING
Unrestricted funds are available for use al the discretion of the Iruslees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives unless the funds have been designated for other purposes.
1.4 INCOMING RESOURCES
Income is recognised when the charity is legal￿ entitled lo il after any perfomiance ctsndilions have been
mel, the amounts can be measured reliably, and il is probable that income will be received.
The gain or k)ss arising on the disposal of an asset is determined as the differen￿ between the sale
proceeds and the carrying value of the asset, and is recognised in nel incomellexpenditure) for the year.

1.5 GRANTS PAYABLE
Grants payable are debited lo expenditure wilhin the Slalemenl of Financial A¢livilies dijring the period in
which the charty enters into a constructive obligation lo make such payments. Where a grant commitment
is payable over a period of more than one year, a liability is recognised for the full amount of the conslruclive
obligation unless conditions are allached to future payments such that the Iruslees effectively relain the
discretion lo avoid making SLJch payments.
1.6 INVESTMENTS AND INVESTMENT INCOME
All inve51menls ale staled al fair value and the movement shown comprises both realised and unrealised
gains and losses.
Realised gains or losses arising on the disposal of investments Ilogelher with provisions for diminution in
value), are credited or debited lo the Statement of Financial Activities, and subsequently transferred to
Unrestricted Funds.
1.7 CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES
The cost of charitable activities consists of grants made.
1.8 COST OF GENEFiATING FUNDS
The cost of generating funds consists of investment management fees.
1.9 GOVERNANCE COSTS
Governance cost8 comprise all costs involving the public accountability of the charity and ils compliance with
regulation and good practice. These costs include costs related lo stalulory independent examination and
legal fees together with other overhead and support costs.
1.10 CASH AND CASH EQUIVALENTS
Cash and cash equivalents include deposits held al ¢all with banks.
1.11 FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS
The charity has elected lo apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Instruments" and section 12
Other Financial Instruments Issues" of FRS 102 to all of its financial inslrumenls.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial slalemenls, when
there is a legally enforceable right lo set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention lo sellle on a
net basis or lo realise the asset and sellle the liability simultaneously.
8aslc flnanclal assets
Basic financial assets, which incTudes debtors and cash and bank balances. are initially measured al
Iransaclion price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried al amortised cost using the
effective interest method unless the arrangement conslilules a financing Iransaclion, where the transaction
is measured al the present value of the future re¢eipls discounted al a market rate of interest. Financial
assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.

Impairment of flnanclal assets
Financial assets. other than those held at fair value through income and expenditure, are assessed for
indicators of impairment al each reporting dale. Financial assets are impaired where there is objective
evidence that, as a result one or more events that occurred after the initial re¢ognilion of the financial asset,
the estimated future cash 11(Iws have been affected.
If an asset is impaired, the impairment loss is the difference between the carrying amount and the present
value of the estimated cash flows discounted al the asset's oriqinal effective interest rate. The impairmgnl
loss is recognised in nel incomellexpendilurel for the year.
If there is a decrease in the impairment loss arising from an event o¢¢urring after the impaimenl was
recognised, the impairment is reversed. The reversal is such that the current carrying amount does not
exceed what the carrying amount would have been, had the impairment previously been recognised. The
impairment reversal is re¢ognised in nel incomellexpenditurel for the year.
Basic financial liabilities
Basic financial liabilities. including trade and other payables, are initially recognised al transaction pri
unless the arrangement constilules a financing Iransaclion, where the debt instrument is measured al the
present value of the future receipts discounted al a matkel rale of interest. Debt instruments are
subsequently carried al amortised cost, using the effective interest rale method.
Trade payables are obligations lo pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course
of operations from suppliers. Accounts payable are classed as current liabilities if payment is due within one
year or less. If not, they are presented as non-¢urrenl liabilities. Trade payables are recognised initially al
transa¢lion price and subsequently measured 81 amortised cost using the effective interest method.
Derecognltlon of flnanclal Ilabllltles
Financial liabilities are derecognised when the charity's conlraclual obligations expire or are discharged or
cancelled.
2. CRITICALACCOUNTING ESTIMATES AND JUDGEMENTS
In the application of the charity's accounting policies, the Iruslees are required lo make judgements.
eslimales and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent
from other sources. The eslimales and associated assumptions ale based on historical experience and
other factors that are considered to be re￿Vant. Actual results may differ from these eslimales.
The eslimales and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions lo accounting
eslimales are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that
period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the ievi5ion affects both current and future
periods.
