Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

From 1st July 2024 Period start date To 30th June 2025 Period end date

Charity name: ONE FOR THE WORLD (OFTW)

Charity registration number: 1193383

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The object of the CIO is to relieve
financial hardship worldwide for the
public benefit by facilitating grants to
high-impact organisations and educating
the public on the consequences of
extreme poverty and the most effective
evidence-based solutions.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
One for the World (OFTW) UK operates
through a strategic partnership with One
for the World, Inc. (OFTW US), utilizing its
centralized operational infrastructure to
educate the public on the consequences
of extreme poverty and raise funds for
highly effective charities working on
these issues.
Through two primary initiatives, the
Campus Chapters Program and the
Community Ambassador Program,
volunteers raise funds that are
subsequently regranted to highly
effective organisations recommended by
GiveWell. All donations received by
OFTW UK for these charities are
transferred to OFTW US to be regranted
for their intended purpose to the specific
charities. The operational and
administrative costs of running these
programs are supported by OFTW US,
ensuring donor funds are directed toward
impact.
The work of these volunteers is rooted in
their local communities and relies heavily
on community organising. OFTW’s
programs are built on the belief that
evidence-based advocacy and
peer-to-peer education can significantly
address the impacts of extreme poverty.
To this end, OFTW’s volunteers engage
their peers through talks, presentations,
and workshops—meeting their
communities where they are, whether on
university campuses or in the workplace.
The trustees periodically select the
organisations to which grants are to be
made. We assess potential organisations
using four criteria. These are:
1. Transparency - is the organisation
willing to be scrutinised and have
the findings written up publicly?
2. Cost-effectiveness - what is the
cost per outcome of the
intervention?
3. Evidence of effectiveness - is there
rigorous evidence that the
intervention works, ideally multiple
randomised control trials?
4. Room for more funding - can the
organisation use further funding to
extend their existing effective
programs in a reasonable
timeframe (typically within 3
years)?
OFTW partners with a world-leading
charity evaluator, GiveWell, to assist us in
the necessary research, due diligence,
and communication to make these
judgments.
Once organisations meeting these criteria
are identified, OFTW US makes grants to
those specific programs that meet all four
criteria so Trustees and donors can be
assured that grants are made to
programs that are both highly effective
and can use additional funding
appropriately.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The trustees have considered the Charity
Commission’s guidance on ‘Charities and
Public Benefit.’ OFTW provides public
benefit by educating the public on global
poverty and regranting funds to
high-impact organisations working to
combat extreme poverty and avert
preventable child deaths.

Policy on grant making Para 1.38 OFTW UK collects and aggregates
donations intended for high-impact
organisations identified through rigorous,
evidence-based research from GiveWell.
To maximize efficiency, the charity
utilizes a pass-through funding model,
transferring donations to our partner
entity, One For The World, Inc. (OFTW
US), for the final centralized regranting.
This ensures that all funds are
consolidated for maximum impact while
minimizing administrative duplication.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 During the financial year ending June
2025, OFTW supported student chapters
at Durham University, the University of St
Andrews, the University of Cambridge,
and the London School of Economics.
OFTW successfully delivered educational
impact talks at major organisations
including Google, Amazon, and the IFC,
as well as hosted events at the UK
Parliament and the University of
Manchester.
Together, these efforts have helped us
recruit 30 new pledgers in the UK. By the
end of the period, OFTW UK raised
£163,789.74 across 1,397 donations from
123 active UK donors to these charities. It
is anticipated that this will fund
treatments that will avert approximately
45 deaths of people living in extreme
poverty.
This represents a sustainable, long-term
funding stream for high-impact

interventions, ensuring that the benefit of OFTW’s educational work persists beyond the current financial year.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 OFTW UK’s income remains strong year
over year. The charity has received over
£200K in voluntary income this year,
which represents a 4% increase from last
year.
OFTW UK has moved to having all
operational and administrative costs
supported by OFTW US, thus showing
fewer expenses compared to last year.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The trustees aim to maintain free
reserves in unrestricted funds at a level
that equates to approximately three
months of unrestricted charitable
expenditure. The trustees consider this
sufficient to regrant funds efficiently and
to cover support and governance costs.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22
The balance held at 30th June 2025 was
£22,524.65, all of which are regarded as
free reserves.
The charity follows a pass-through
funding model, transferring donations to
the US entity for centralized regranting,
thereby limiting the need to hold
reserves.
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 The reported deficit arises from the
accounting treatment of almost £492,444
transferred to the US entity for onward
regranting. These amounts are not
operating expenses but represent funds
moved to OFTW US before then being
regranted to our partner charities. This
ensures that donor funds are efficiently
directed toward high-impact
interventions.
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23

Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
Para 1.47 OFTW’s principal sources of funds were
recurring and one-off donations from
individual supporters.
Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted
Para 1.46 One for the World UK does not hold
material financial investments beyond
cash at bank. All funds received for
partner charities are held in liquid,
low-risk accounts to facilitate the
pass-through funding model, whereby
donations are transferred to OFTW US for
centralized regranting. The primary
objective is capital preservation and
liquidity to ensure that all donor funds
are directed toward high-impact
interventions as recommended by
GiveWell.
A description of the principal
risks facing the charity
Para 1.46 The charity's principal risks are
considered low given its operational
model. Structural dependency on OFTW
US for administrative costs and donation
volatility are monitored risks.
Following our transition to a
US-supported operational framework, the
charity benefits from OFTW US covering
UK administrative costs, ensuring that
UK resources are focused entirely on
charitable impact. The Trustees monitor
this relationship through regular financial
reporting and remain attentive to
developments in the external regulatory
environment, including any changes to
cross-border fund transfer rules, to
ensure continued compliance and
operational continuity.
Risks to our impact goals are managed
by maintaining a diverse base of student
and professional pledgers. While these
donations are regranted directly to
partner charities, a broad donor
community ensures the resilience of our
core mission to move significant capital
to high-impact interventions. OFTW UK
successfully recruited 30 new UK
pledgers this year, ensuring a sustainable
long-term funding stream.
To mitigate financial and data risks, the
charity primarily utilizes secure
third-party platforms (including Stripe,
Benevity, and CAF) for donation
processing. This ensures that the
majority of funds are handled through
industry-standard encrypted systems,
minimizing direct staff access to
sensitive financial data and ensures all
funds are handled through encrypted
systems.

INCOMING RESOURCES

Recognition of incoming These are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) when: resources · the charity becomes entitled to the resources; · the trustees are virtually certain they will receive the resources; and · the monetary value can be measured with sufficient reliability. Incoming resources with Where incoming resources have related expenditure (as with fundraising or contract income) related expenditure the incoming resources and related expenditure are reported gross in the SoFA. Grants and donations Grants and donations are only included in the SoFA when the charity has unconditional entitlement to the resources. Tax reclaims on donations Incoming resources from tax reclaims are included in the SoFA at the same time as the gift to and gifts which they relate. Contractual income and This is only included in the SoFA once the related goods or services have been delivered. performance related grants Gifts in kind are accounted for at a reasonable estimate of their value to the charity or the Gifts in kind amount actually realised.
