## **Annual report for Friends of Fawley Church for Charity Commission – April 2024**

The Friends of Fawley Church was founded in February 2021 with the objective, ‘To preserve, maintain and enhance the ancient Church and Churchyard of St Mary the Virgin, Fawley as a place of worship and gathering for the greater benefit of the community’.

Fawley church was closed for much of 2023 so that building works could be carried out. New lighting, heating and sound systems were installed, the gallery was moved to create a welcoming entrance with kitchen and disabled WC and the church was completely redecorated. The village was delighted and we re-opened in December with a packed launch party and a service of re-dedication led by the Bishop of Buckingham.

Since then we have held a number of events from coffee mornings to poetry evenings. We look forward to fundraising dinners, nature talks, meditation groups and a Saturday café during 2024. We are thankful that fellow trustees and other volunteers are ensuring that the church is benefiting the whole community.
