The Wold Rangers Way was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in February 2021 but due to the pandemic launched later in that year in August. The four founding trustees are actively involved in the operation of the charity on a voluntary basis with no employed staff. 

The organisation was established with three clear ambitions: 

1. To educate the public in the heritage of the Yorkshire Wold Rangers; 

2. The preservation and conservation of the natural environment around Driffield and the Wolds, and; 

3. The promotion and community participation in healthy recreation by encouraging walking. 

The Wolds Rangers Way is a challenging circular walk which winds its way 44miles over the Yorkshire Wolds through amazing chalk landscapes with dry valleys with stunning wildlife alongside vibrant market towns and ancient Wolds villages. It also captures the unique history of the Yorkshire Wold Rangers and ensures that their names and stories live on forever. 

In addition to the main route, there are several shorter trails providing a unique, progressive way to enjoy walking. Offering a variety of guided walks and events, the Wold Rangers Way appeals to local residents and visitors alike, bringing into the area people who want to walk the Yorkshire Wolds and perhaps stay locally along the way. 

The Wold Rangers Way audience is anyone wanting to experience walking in the outdoors from short accessible health walks to those seeking the challenge of trekking 44-miles in a day. All support materials, maps, guides and route planners can be accessed online free of charge with free guided walks delivered on a regular basis by experienced leaders. First aid training specific to walking is undertaken by the Trustees and volunteers, provided by a local specialist. 

In June we held our annual walking festival consisting of 17 guided walks over the space of 7 days with the routes varying in length and ability from 1.5 miles to 44 miles so there was something for everyone. 

January saw the ever-popular Birthday walk of Croom Mabel on New Years Day. 

Talks and presentations have been provided to various groups over the year. 

The WRW stall have been displayed at various events including Driffield Show and Driffield Market. 

The WRW brand is becoming more known in the town with some businesses producing merchandise such as Wold Rangers coffee.
