THE ADVANCEMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION PRINCIPALLY IN THE AREAS OF HEALTHY LIFESTYLES AND THE ENVIRONMENT BY PROVISION OF A COMMUNITY GARDEN AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES 2 We have referred to the guidance contained in the commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aims and objectives and in planning future activities. The trustees consider that the charity’s activities reflect our aims and objectives, and that they are designed to provide accessible services and activities that benefit the appropriate sector of the public in accordance with our charitable activities. Our main charitable activities: **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** - Maintain a safe inclusive community garden open six days a week. - Encourage healthy lifestyle through volunteering and providing accessible gardening activities - Facilitate a range of recreational and social activities for all ages and abilities - Support peer-led social groups These activities reflect the needs and interests of local residents, while promoting the benefits of nature throughout the seasons. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** We are grateful to our volunteers who have contributed many hours each week to ensure the garden is safe and enjoyable for all. Their ideas and insight also shape how the garden can provide an inclusive and supportive space. Working in partnership with local schools and Hull City Council to ensure the garden inspires and brings positive opportunities for Children and Young People. Moving forward, we recognize the need to further develop our educational offer to inspire others to enjoy and maintain green spaces as well as providing the skills and opportunities for local residents to volunteer and be part of Rainbow Garden’s future. - contribution made by volunteers. 3 ## Section D Achievements and performance ## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** Our social Media activities has increased, allowing the Charity to listen more and promote opportunities that reflects the needs and interest of local residents. Subsequently we have expanded weekly creative and social sessions in partnership with activity providers and community groups. Messey Play sessions brings children together to enjoy the garden, while parents have the opportunity to enjoy and create new friendships. Children and Dads Play sessions creates opportunities to share knowledge and skills that explores recycling, woodwork and maintenance of equipment. A new project that created the space for children and fathers to enjoy shared learning and connect with each other. Women’s Group are self-led and supports participants to build new friendships and share craft skills. Attendance and feedback has been positive and some members of the group are also volunteering within the garden. Community Litter Picks: Coordinated by the Charity with strong volunteer support to help improve the local area and connect more people into Rainbow Garden. Green Flag award 2023 successfully achieved. Demonstrating our commitment to ensuring everyone has access to a quality and well-loved garden that inspires.
