I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner's statement** I have completed my examination. To advance the religion of Islam, by means of, but not exclusively,
promoting the teachings and tenets of Islam, provision of facilities
for worship and provision of facilities for Islamic education, in
accordance with the teachings of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah of the
Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as defined and
interpreted by the Hanafi Deobandi School of Thought (“Doctrine”);

To relieve financial hardship among the poor, the underprivileged,
victims of natural and man-made disasters and people in need, by
means of, but not exclusively, making grants or loans for providing
or paying for items, equipment, treatment, services and facilities for
the benefit of the said persons.| |---|---| ||The previous Charity by Trust Deed organisation (Registered
Charity no: 1173229) was superceded by the CIO (Registered
Charity no: 1193321), continuing to maintain the original
organisational name: Chatham and Rochester Muslim Committee,
by which the organisation is recognised by the local community that
it serves.
The predecessor organisation has now been fully closed and shut
down, following a full transfer of all assets and liabilities to the
replacement CIO, including properties, funds in bank account and
any outstanding loans. This was as a result of completion of the
transfer of The Charity from the previous Charity by Trust Deed
structure to a new Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
The Trustees of the Charity decided to utilise excess funds in
reserve to fully pay off private loans taken out for the purchase of
the property next door at 79 Dale Street, Chatham, Kent ME4 6QG
of which £32,000 was remaining. This was fully repaid and the
Charity became fully debt free for the first time in about 8 years.
The Charity continued to provide all the usual services without
disruption during the course of the year. This included children’s
after school Islamic Maktab classes. All the Maktab tutors, both
permanent and temporary cover teachers, were sent on Basic
Safeguarding training at Medway Council’s Medway Safeguarding
Children Partnership (MSCP).
The trustees have had due regard to the guidance of the Charity
Commission on public benefit and are satisfied that they are acting
in accordance with that guidance and are making a real difference

This resulted in a deficit of £3,606 which was met with the reserves held from prior year. The charity held unrestricted reserves of £69,513 which didn’t include the liabilities due at the end of the period.
