|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|The Objects of the CIO are for the benefit of the
health and wellbeing of the inhabitants of
the city Wells and the surrounding villages, to
improve access to leisure and improve
conditions of life for the inhabitants of the
community particularly, young people and
families. The CIO aims to promote, raise funds
and co-ordinate the provision of a multipurpose,
wheeled sports park allowing for BMX,
Skateboarding, cycling, roller
skating/bladingand scootering.|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|Our primary activities this year have focused on
advancing the skatepark project for the benefit
of the community. Key efforts have included
working with local councils, developers, and
professionals to address the necessary land and
access issues, which is essential for progressing
towards the design phase and securing planning
permission.
In addition to these collaborative efforts, we
have continued our fundraising activities,
primarily through grant applications. Looking
ahead, we are preparing for a major fundraising
push that will take place once planning
permission has been granted. This will ensure
that we have the financial resources to build the
skatepark.|
|Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit|Para 1.18|The Charity Commission's guidance on public
benefit is regarded as a valuable and essential
resource for charitable organizations like ours,
and we acknowledge its importance in ensuring
that our charitable activities fulfil the
requirement of providing public benefit.
The Board of Trustees has reviewed and|

considered the Charity Commission's guidance as part of its responsibility to oversee and govern the operations of the Charity. We are committed to conducting our activities in line with the Commission's guidance and in a manner that promotes and maximizes public benefit. We understand that public benefit is at the core of our charitable purpose, and the guidance provided by the Charity Commission

SORP reference Para 1.38 Policy on grant making Para 1.38 Policy on social investment including program related investment Para 1.38 Contribution made by volunteers The overall purpose of our charity is to provide Other the community with a sustainable, long lasting wheeled sports park that will increase accessibility to all, improve physical and mental well-being for the community and provide invaluable social benefit and community connection. Part of our role is also to raise awareness. Skateparks are often surrounded by a stigma that they are frequented by troublemakers and that it’s not a “traditional sport” and the riders can be discriminated against for this, we advocate for the clear benefits that a high quality accessible park can achieve for skateboarders, scooters, BMX and roller skaters. Our initiative aims to strengthen community connections by creating a space for a multigenerational community to come together, enjoy recreation and the benefits that provides.

We have
continued to collaborate closely with Wells
City Council, Somerset Council, the
skatepark developer, and a range of
associated professionals, including
surveyors, architects, and planners, to
address key land and access issues. These
efforts have brought us closer to the design
phase, laying the groundwork for securing
planning permission and ultimately bringing
the skatepark to fruition.
Additionally, we have engaged a dedicated
team of volunteers, whose commitment has
been instrumental in driving the project
forward. We have also initiated positive
discussions with supportive local
businesses, further strengthening community
engagement.
By moving the project closer to completion,
we are not only creating a vital recreational
space that will directly benefit young people
in the area, but we are also contributing to
the broader social and economic well-being
of the community. The skatepark will serve
as a safe, inclusive environment for physical
activity and social interaction, enhancing the
quality of life for residents while promoting
community cohesion and encouraging
healthier lifestyles.|
