Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	The AUTP is an independent body, whose principal aim is to promote the effective learning and teaching of psychiatry to medical undergraduates in the medical schools of the UK and Ireland through educational meetings. Membership of the organisation is open to all staff that have a role and an interest in teaching psychiatry, regardless of their own academic discipline.
Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts.	Para 1.17 and 1.19	Over this period the AUTP has undertaken work to advance psychiatric education. This has included undertaking a national research study on undergraduate psychiatry curricula in the UK. The period following the Covid-19 pandemic has presented significant challenges for trustees dedicated to patient care within the demanding environment of the NHS, understandably limiting the capacity for undertaking charitable activities. We are pleased to report that communication has been re-established with the executive committee members, and plans are now underway to recommence the charity's activities. A trustees’ meeting has taken place, and advertising for the new trustee team will commence shortly AUTP – WPA guide AUTP team is collaborating with more than 50 authors from different countries on how various topics related to virtual UG psychiatric education. This work is still ongoing.

		The AUTP collects membership fees from members, for this the unincorporated charity the Association of University Teachers of Psychiatry (charity number 325134) acts as an agent. They receive the income, manage expenditure and hold funds on behalf of this charity.
