Advance education by the provision of an independent community library providing books, equipment, information, and other educational and community resources.** **b. Provide facilities for social welfare and wellbeing for all our community.** **c. Help young people, through leisure time activities and education, to develop their capabilities that they may grow as individuals and members of society.** **d. We have 415 active library members. We have 45 children registered to borrow books. The Trustees agreed to allow children free access to the library at the January meeting. 47 books have been reserved & borrowed from Hampshire Libraries over the year April 2022-3. The cost of this service increased by 20p to £1.20 per item on 1st August 2023. Weekly Bounce & Rhyme sessions for 0- to 2-year-olds, numbers vary between 2 and 8 children each week. In addition, we provide 2 sessions with the children from Hopscotch Nursery - about 35 children in total. We provide a weekly Stories and Rhymes session for 2- to 5-year-olds, with Hopscotch Nursery bringing 8 to 12 children and up to 6 other families regularly attending. We have hosted Lee Infants School’s Reception classes to hear a story about Chinese New Year and make Chinese New Year crafts. Lee Juniors and Gomer Juniors have made 3 visits to find out about being volunteer library assistants and how our Non-Fiction books are organised. Gomer Junior school hosted a cake and book sale to say thank you for their visit. ## **Volunteers’ data** - Current active volunteers 47 with 15 on our resting volunteer list - An average of 15 hours a week of volunteer time provided each week. - 47x15= 705 hours per week - _We don’t pay our volunteers, not because they are worthless; but because they are priceless!_ ## **Landmark events over past year:** - Photograph Competition and Calendar Project - Soiree September 2022 and Cream tea October 15[th] , 2022 - Calendars available from October 2022 - Summer Reading Adventure- “All around the world “ - Flag hunt in local business windows - Christmas Fayre -Saturday 3[rd] December 2022 ## **Book and Author events** - Saturday 14 January2023 WW2 event with local author Claire Gradidge,.
