Treasurer’s Report 1 Feb’21 – 30 June ‘22

This report is unusual as it covers 17 months, not the usual 12 months. This has been caused by the Club gaining CIO status on the first of February 2021.

As you can see from the balance sheet provided as separate files, the Club had an excess of income over expenditure of £4,223. Normally this is the profit the Club would be judged by but I’m not sure this applies to this Club, surely a better criteria is how many people we have helped.

As the Club has a total bank balance of £13,844.97 it is in a healthy position to meet any requests for assistance that the Club may receive.

Community Services Report 1 Feb’21 – 30 June’22

This period of time has been very different to others in that we have not only had the Covid-19 pandemic but also a series of major international disasters. The Club has throughout been able to provide assistance towards meeting the needs of our local community together with those internationally.

A coffee morning for Marie Curie

Collecting on behalf of The Royal British Legion Poppy

Appeal in Biggleswade & on behalf of the Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal in Shefford. Making donations to both

Collecting 6000 pairs of spectacles for recycling from our 13 collection points, together with 34 hearing aids

Distributing Message in a Bottle & Wallet from 25 locations & every fete we attended estimated to be in excess of 250

Taking trays of 100 childrens’ reading books, to 11, so far, of our 24 First Schools.

Fund Raising Report 1 Feb ’21 – 30 June ‘22

Summer Fetes: face to face meetings didn’t commence until mid-May 2021 due to Covid and so Summer Fetes didn’t start until the end of August. We took part in 5 fetes namely Sandy Community Fun Day (22 Aug ’21), Potton Village Show (11 Sept ’21), Gamlingay Village Show (18 Sept ’21), Ickwell May Day (2 May ’22) and Sandy Carnival (11 June ’22) with total takings of £2,367. Altogether we sold 618 mugs with the Lucky Mugs and 594 soft toys with the Lucky Dip. In addition we took part in the Arlesey Street Market on 17 July ’21 raising £59 and proving more of a social event. Christmas Dance: great success as always at the Weatherley Centre making a profit of £1,754. The ticket price was increased from £22.50 to £25 per head and the food offering was modified slightly for Covid requirements. We sold out of tombola tickets while people were still queuing. Various ideas will be considered for 2022.

Christmas Collections 2021: it was decided not to do any sleigh runs due to insufficient able volunteers but to have Father Christmas present for the children at every collection from 3 – 5pm and all day at Sainsburys. In total we raised £6,030 collecting for 13 days at 6 locations and the SumUp card reader paid for itself collecting £510 (8% of the total). The towing pole of the sleigh cracked, fortunately in Clifton, and Lion Tony was able to repair with some welding without interrupting the collections.

Jumble Sale 19 March ’22: this was held at the Clifton Community Centre as usual and £1,375 was raised for the LCIF Ukraine Refugee Fund. The Hall was provided free of charge by Clifton Parish Council.

Sandy Rotary Club Raffle Tickets: we sold tickets for the Nov ’21 and April ’22 draws on the basis of retaining 50% sales. £337.50 was raised for the Lions.

Easter Eggs: no Easter Egg Draw took place in ’21 due to Covid. Our regular egg manufacturer encountered supply issues for 2022 but managed to come up with a new design just in time. Our takings were £1,907 from 20 eggs at 20 different locations with 12 pubs selling all 120 squares.

Trustees

All have indicated that they are happy to stand again and in the absence of others, the same trustees/officers will continue for another year.
