NOTES OF THE INDEPENDENT EXAMINER ON THE ACCOUNTS OF THE FRIENDS OF THE MARIAN FRANCISCANS FOR PERIOD 1 JANUARY TO 31 DECEMBER 2022

Examiner’s Methodology

The Independent Examiner checked all ledger entries against the bank statements and receipts. Background checks were also conducted on the UK Gov Charity Commission Website to confirm the authenticity of the charity.

Examiner’s Observations

  1. The Charity Commission website indicates that the above charity is not recognised by HMRC for gift aid although it is clear from the documentation provided that the charity has successfully claimed Gift Aid.

  2. Receipts/supporting documentation could not be found for the following transaction:

Date Type Description Amount
19/04/2022 Debit Card A Webb & Son 47.50
  1. The GA summary at row 301 of the Excel workbook which has a cell titled Separate GA claim , appears to include all the Stripe totals except line 283. This value has been added to the cash total. This could impact on the value of Gift Aid claimed and is worth checking.

  2. The Book Keeper is to be commended for presenting the transactions in a simple and understandable format, which has made the Examiner’s task easy to execute.

REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT EXAMINER TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE FRIENDS OF THE MARIAN FRANCISCANS

I have examined the accounts for the period 1 January to 31 December 2022 as submitted by the Treasurer.

I have received satisfactory explanations to my queries and in my opinion the accounts are in accordance with the books of account and represent a true and fair view of the position at the end of the accounting period.
