Trustees are the 3 founding members of the organisation- working closely together and having regular online meetings email communications and phone discussions.

For the public benefit, the prevention or relief of poverty in impoverished areas in the world, in particular, but not exclusively, in Hyderabad and surrounding areas by providing or assisting in the provision of grants and essential household items, education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient.

1. Advancement of Health or Saving of Lives:
1. Advancement of Health or Saving of Lives:
In 2023-2024, significant efforts were dedicated to providing medical aid to destitute children, showcased through a series of impactful images of children in the troubled areas of Hyderabad, India. Volunteers from the Medical Aid for Hyderabad group organized awareness sessions, and funds were raised to support hospital supplies as part of this initiative.
Another notable fundraiser supported a team of UK-based doctors who traveled to Egypt to perform life-saving surgeries on children and adults suffering from trauma. Additionally, financial assistance was provided for cancer treatment for an individual in India, further underscoring the commitment to advancing health and saving lives.
2. Education/ Training: A) In Hyderabad, India: We have continued the earlier work on providing help and guidance for medical students in India who are preparing for the PLAB exam – for medical graduates seeking to come to UK for training and jobs within the NHS.
B) In UK: As in the last year for new migrants to UK there have been mentors identified among established professionals in different fields who have guided the new migrants in various ways including CV writing, specific training programs enrolment and interview practice.
3. Community development and Diversity promotion: In UK: On 3[rd] June 2023 there was a social/cultural event organised in Manchester. In this event a large number of families (about 40 familiesadults and children) gathered for socialising over dinner and a series of cultural events (quiz, poetry, literary competitions) were organised. Events like these have kept the community connected and there was keen interest for a bigger event to be organised in the next year and to include sports events.
4. Help in relief of poverty: A community member died in tragic circumstances in Newham, UK leaving the community in deep sorrow and shock. The Maahir charity group raised money from member donations and organised the funeral and provided funds for the affected family.

There is a pool of volunteers- established professionals in different fieldsmedical/ IT/ Academia/ Engineers/ Allied healthcare professionals who contribute to the work of Maahir on an ad hoc basis depending on need and their own availability. This work mainly involves guiding new migrants as detailed above.
