There is a governing document as registered with the charity commission with defined objectives. There is no permanent or long-standing association with any other parties. There is a regular consideration of major risks- beneficiaries are carefully screened by trustees and all decisions taken by consensus. - relationship with any related parties; - t rustees’ consideration of major risks and the system and procedures to manage them. ## **Section C Objectives and activities** **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** For the public benefit, the prevention or relief of poverty in impoverished areas in the world, in particular, but not exclusively, in Hyderabad and surrounding areas by providing or assisting in the provision of grants and essential household items, education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient. March **2012** **TAR** 2 In providing the help under various projects as below the trustees have taken guidance from the Charity commision on public benefit. 1. Advancement of Health or Saving of Lives: In the year past ( 2021-2022) Maahir group had been very active with helping in the provurement and delivery of Oxygen concentrators to India at the time of great need during the Covid pandemic. In this year (2022-2023) the focus in terms of Covid cases was mainly on continuing with education around vaccines, and helping via telemedicine in the management of individual cases of Covid infection along with local doctors in Hyderabad. In addition to the above there have been individual cases where financial help was requested by poor families towards the hospital bill payment for cancer treatment in one instance and surgical treatment after trauma in another. **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 2. Education/ Training: A) In Hyderabad, India: This mainly focused on guidance for PLAB exam – for medical graduates seeking to come to UK for training and jobs within the NHS. - B) In UK: For new migrants to UK there have been mentors identified among established professionals in different fields who have guided the new migrants in various ways including CV writing, specific training programs enrolment and interview practice. 3. Community development and Diversity promotion: - A) In UK: in June 2022 where a large number of families gathered for socialising over lunch and a series of cultural events were organised. Childrens art and music and poetry recitation talents were a feature- and prozes were awarded to the participants. - B) Promotion of language via Urdu APP development: Ongoing work from Maahir- an urdu app is nearly completed- called Dil Ki Awaaz which features an audio library of prominent literary fiction and non fiction works narrated by urdu speakers. The idea is to ensure that people who cannot read urdu, but understand spoken urdu would be able to listen to the narrations and improve their knowledge of classics and modern writings of Urdu authors. 4. Help in relief of poverty: Expenses were paid for auto rickshaw repair work for a family where the only income depended on the dad being able to repair the auto rickshaw to maintain his trade. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** March **2012** **TAR** 3 There is a pool of volunteers- established professionals in different fieldsmedical/ IT/ Academia/ Engineers/ Allied healthcare professionals who contribute to the work of Maahir on an ad hoc basis depending on need and their own availability. This work mainly involves guiding new migrants as detailed above.
