Liverpool Road Methodist Church; Southport Aim and Purposes The Church Council. chaired by the minister, the Rev Emest Grimshaw, is responsible in the whole mission of the Church. worship. learning and caring. evangelism and service. It is also responsibility for developing ecumenical relations. managing the property of the Church and its finances. All of the activities of the Church are conducted within the structure, governan of the Methodist Church and management. In our mission... We exist to proclaim the Lord Jesu5 Christ, through whom the people of Birkdale. and beyond can come to know God and grow in his Love,. Stnjrture. governance and management The method of appointment of Church Coundl members and revlewing those members appointed to specific tasksls set out in the Methodist Standing Orders. The Church Council met 3 tin5 during the year with an average attendance of 14 persons. Church Council also initiates and supports sub committees that focus on specific aspects of our church life. Worshlp The Church Council is committed to enabling as many people as posslble to worship at our church. The Church Council maintains an overview of VIrShip and makes su88estlons on how our services can invofve the many groups that use our premises Our serv5ces and worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, muslc and sacrament. When plannin8 our actfvities for the year. the minister and the Church Councll consIded the Commission's guidan on public benefit and, in particular. the speclfic guidan on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular, we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith through: Worship and prayer: learnin8 about the Gospel: and developing their knowled8e and trust In Jesus. Evangelism The Church Review considered ways of engaging with the local community more. It is intended that we develop and are able to 8ive opportunitles to such people to explore matters of faith. Service Helping those in need is a demOnStratn of our faith. Preparatsns We made to partner with the charity. Compassion Acts, to open a F(K>d Pantry. offering members of the local comrnunity who are struggling financially to access discounted food. The Church also entered into an a8reement with Birkdale Community Hub and Librnry tooffer its premises as a comrnunity led library. Facets is a group for mainly retlred people to Spend time in each otherfs company whi15t pursing various interests such as music, keep fit, sport. cUrnt affairs. crafts etc. Ecumenical Relationships The Church has been part of a number of churches in the town to host a weekly ecumenical prayer meeting, offering our premises for one month of the year. Furthermore. we have maintained ecumenical relations with local Anglican Churches through a monthly prdyer meetin8, as well as maintèlning contacts with people in other churches.
Routine maintenance To frdcilitate our mission, it is Important that we maintsin the fabric of the chUh and the Church Hall premises, this has been carried out by volunteers and appropriate contrartor5. Volunteers We would like to thank all the volunteers who work so hard to make our church the livefy and vibrant community it is. Financial Review Please see the accounts. Rese5 poIiLv It is the Church Council policy to maintain a balance on unrestricted fund51rf possible), which equates to at least six months unrestricted payments, equivalent to £36,LKQ, to cover emer8ency situations that may arise from time to time.
