## **Trustees' Annual Report For the year ended 31 March 2025** 

The trustees present their annual report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025. The financial statements have been presented in accordance with the accounting policies set out in page 7 and comply with the charity's trust deed, the Charities Act 2011 and the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities 2019. 

## **Trustees of the charity** 

The trustees of the charitable company for the reporting year were: Mr Praful Bhatt (Founder & Chair) Mrs Vaibhavi Adhvaryu Mrs Ranjan Kanabar 

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** 

## **Objectives and aims** 

The objectives of the charity are: 

- To provide nourishing meals at affordable prices or free in cases where an individual is not in a position to pay. 

- To deliver fresh meals to vulnerable people in the local community who are housebound or have mobility issues. 

- To provide a warm, welcoming, clean and safe environment at the centre for people to socialise and avoid isolation. 

- Supporting the homeless through weekly food donations. 

- Providing hall hire and catering for funerals and community events. 

- Supporting and collaborating with other local charities to create greater collective impact. 

## **Significant activities** 

The activities carried out by the charity include: 

- Organising religious, health & wellbeing and social programmes 

- Organising and running of the food delivery service and at the centre 

- Organising events for the community at affordable prices so they can socialise and avoid social isolation by making new friends. 

- Providing free use of the space in the hall for bereavement in December, January & February. 

## **ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE** 

- Weekly donations of food to the Centre Project Homeless Charity in Leicester City Centre. 

- A donation of £10,000.00 to Leicester Royal Infirmary Children's Ward. - Recognition of the charity's work by Buckingham Palace, including two invitations to the King's Garden Tea Party. 

- Continued growth in community engagement and support every year. 

- Organising community events at significantly below-market prices, such as a Christmas Party with a three-course meal and three hours of entertainment for £10. 

- Offering free hall hire for after-funeral gatherings for four months each year (Nov to Feb). 

## **Charitable Donations** 

During this financial year, the management committee made charitable donations of £10,301 to UK Charities and £25,924 to Santosh Seva Trust in India.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** 

## **Principal funding sources** 

The charity's sources of income arose from the following: 

- running lunch clubs for the elderly 

- running regular tiffin deliveries for elderly and vulnerable 

- running tiffin collections from the centre 

- voluntary and small donations. 

- Hall hire and catering for after funeral catering services or events held at the centre. 

## **Investment policy** 

The Trust operates two bank accounts: a current account and a dedicated charity account. Any surplus funds are placed in three-month or six-month fixed-term interest accounts with HSBC to ensure responsible stewardship of charitable funds. 

## **Funding policy** 

The charity, apart from running their principal activities as mentioned above, regular fund raising activities and functions are organised to increase the revenue stream. 

## **Financial Review** 

The charity income continues to remain strong. The Charity has started to create cash reserves to meet the future needs of the charity and accommodate any future downturns in income whilst it facilities for the elderly, luncheon club, etc. continues without disruptions. We now have a dedicated trustee Mrs Vaibhavi Adhvaryu who manages the finances and produces monthly reports for detailed analysis and reviews on expenditure. 

## **FUTURE PLANS** 

- Relocate to a larger premises due to outgrowing the current building. 

- Increase marketing through national Asian newspapers and Sunrise Radio (London). 

- Expand meal provision for poor and vulnerable individuals. 

- Invest in improvements to the existing premises. 

- Explore the possibility of purchasing the current premises from Leicester City Council. 

- Recruit new, active, and enthusiastic Trustees to strengthen governance. 

## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** 

## **Governing document** 

The charity is an incorporated charity constituted under a trustee deed dated 4th February 2020 and the registered charity number is 1193110. 

## **Recruitment and appointment of new trustees** 

The charity is actively looking to appoint new vibrant and active trustees. We have found searching for trustees to be challenging due to the commitment the role requires. However, we are pleased to report the charity has in total, three trustees, implementing key ideas and decisions to maintain and improve the charity's cause everyday.

## **Independent examiner's report to the Trustees on the accounts of Jalaram Sadavrat Trust Leicester UK for the year ended 31 March 2025** 

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Jalaram Sadavrat Trust Leicester UK for the year ended 31 March 2025 which are set out on pages 5 to 11. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the company and also its directors for the purposes of company law you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006. 

Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your company’s accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act. 

## **Independent Examiner's Statement, report and opinion** 

Since your company's gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a registered member of which is one of the listed bodies I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view’ which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

For the financial year in question the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies. 

No members have required the company to obtain an audit of its accounts for the year in question in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006. 

The directors acknowledge their responsibility for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and for the preparation of the accounts. 

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the micro-entity provisions.

## **1 Summary of significant accounting policies** 

## **Basis of preparing the financial statements** 

The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) issued in October 2019, Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Charities Act 2011 and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis under the historical cost convention. 

## **Income** 

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. 

## **Expenditure** 

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. 

## **Tangible fixed assets** 

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.

## **Stocks** 

Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items. 

## **Taxation** 

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities. 

## **Fund accounting** 

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. 

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.

## **Hire purchase and leasing commitments** 

Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to the Statement of Financial Activities on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.

## **15 Related Party Disclosures** 

During the year trustees were paid remuneration of £46,971 (2024 - £44,909). 

There were no trustees' expenses paid for the year ended 31 March 2025 nor for the year ended 31 March 2024.
