## **Treasurers Report 2026**
## **1. Introduction**
This report provides an update on the 2025/26 accounts for Derrington Village Hall and explains how we are continuing to strengthen our financial position and close the gap between income and expenditure.
## **2. Accounts Summary 2025/26**
The accounts have been independently audited by Malcolm Kidd, and we extend our sincere thanks for carrying out this work free of charge.
## **a. Income**
Income increased by £12,293 this year. Please note that £8,672 of this is a Lottery Community Fund grant for the solar batteries. Although the batteries were installed and paid for in the 2026 financial year, the grant still appears in this year’s income.
Even after removing the grant, the hall made a healthy surplus of £3,825, compared with last year’s £195 loss.
Key changes this year:
- Social Club contribution up 20%
- Rent increased voluntarily by 12%
- Additional contributions from bar profits at events
- ‑
- This reflects the much improved relationship between the Hall and the Social Club
- Family gatherings up 17%
- An increase of £315 compared with the previous year.
- Chair‑based exercise group up 35%
- An increase of £817.
- Gift Aid added over £2,000
- Thanks to residents who signed up
- Plus Small Donations Gift Aid claimed from user groups.
- Solar income slightly down

`o` This was due to the December payment arriving late (April 2026).
Overall, this has been a very positive year for income.
## **b. Outgoings**
- Electricity costs decreased
- Russell reconfigured the solar feed so the bar cooler now runs on solar power instead of corridor lighting.
- Gas costs increased
- Higher usage and higher unit prices compared with last year.
- Fete and fundraising costs appear higher
- This is because the Hall received all fete income directly and then distributed funds to the village organisations (Church, Millennium Green, WI).
- The Hall acted as the central organiser, so the full amounts passed through our accounts.
## **c. Bank accounts**
At year end **£34,288.90**
## **3. Conclusion**
This has been a very positive financial year for Derrington Village Hall. Our thanks go to:
- all volunteers who give their time
- residents who provide regular Gift Aid donations
- the Social Club committee for fundraising events and generous contributions
- everyone who uses and supports the hall

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the year ended 31/03/2026.
**Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011.
I report in respect of my examination of the accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
