For the public benefit, to promote humane behaviour towards animals by providing grants for the appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for animals which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage and to educate the public in matters pertaining to animal welfare in general and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among animals.

Activities undertaken in 2024 include: - World Animal Day Year 7 presentation at a Leeds school to promote respecting animals, Dog show judged by Vets from the Yorkshire Vet TV programme, Dog Treasure Hunt, Online Shop / Car Boot sales, events at Roundhay School, Quiz Nights, Christmas Dog Party & work at Catch Leeds educational farm.

Policy on grant making – The Trustees have donated funds to local small animal charities in line with the CIO objectives.

Contribution made by Volunteers – Animal ArkAid Trustees and Volunteers have as usual shown invaluable commitment over the year in supporting the numerous successful events.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Animal ArkAid has now donated over £90,000 to local small animal charities and this included £13,690 donated in 2024, which was our most successful year in our fourteen year history. In addition animal charities attending our Dog Show and Santapaws events raised approximately £2,000.

World Animal Day presentation was held in a Leeds secondary school and work is continuing to roll out this programme. A big part of these presentations is aimed at school children respecting animals.

Work undertaken at Catch Leeds in Harehills helped to raise almost £5,000.

Animal ArkAid principal sources of funds are mainly from the activities listed previously which are held annually, however we are also trying to increase the number of schools involved in our World Animal presentations.

Miscellaneous expenditure in the year was only £690, thereby allowing Animal ArkAid to pay the vast amount of it’s event profits to local small animal charities.
