## TRUSTEES REPORT

## FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 NOVEMBER, 2023

The Trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 November 2023. The Trustees, for the purposes of the Charities Act 1993 as amended have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019). The Charity is governed by a constitution.

## Report of the Trustees

At Gloryland Connections, we have been able to build on the achievements of the previous year and advance our community engagement with the local people. We have been able to reach more individuals within the community with our food bank—a dream nurtured through years of prayer and planning. This initiative stands as an encouragement of support for both our members and the wider local community during these challenging times.

We have been able to relocate our place of worship from 227 Gascoigne Estate IG11 7LN to a new centre127 Ripple Rd, Barking IG11 7PB, this has placed us at the centre of Barking thereby reaching out to more people within the community.

## Our weekly service

Our regular schedule remains steadfast: Sunday services continue from 10:30 am to 1 pm at our new location, the Adult College on 127 Ripple Rd, Barking IG11 7PB, necessitated by various challenges including financial constraints. Mid-week Bible studies persist every Wednesday from 7 pm to 8 pm via Zoom, while evangelism efforts are concentrated on the third Friday of each month. Additionally, the first Friday hosts house fellowships and the last Friday is dedicated to a night of praise and prayers. Men gather for prayer meetings every Monday from 7 pm to 8 pm via Zoom, while women convene periodicals on Fridays at 8 pm.

## Ministry progress highlights

Our ministry has seen notable progress: Sunday service attendance has surged from 40 to 60 members weekly, and the community food bank has been fully operational, positively impacting society. Successful summer evangelism/outreach activities resulted in new souls brought to God and increased church membership. The children's department, particularly the Sunday school, has flourished, with a rise in attendance

4

and an expansion of teaching staff from 2 to 5 teachers. Plans are underway to commence teen classes later in 2024, with committed workers ready to contribute.

## Community engagement

In terms of community engagement, our endeavours have borne fruit:

- We engage in vocational training for people within the local community

- Employability, we help in CV building, career talks, sign posting to organisations for employment within the community thereby reducing dependence on government benefits.

- We source qualified professionals, for free training in IT courses like Business Analysis, Data Analytics, Cyber Security etc. (We strongly believe in empowering powerful people to gain financier independence)

- Food bank operations every Sunday

- Health routine checks for local community members by medical professionals.

- Pastoral care and street evangelism

## Challenges and development projects

Despite these achievements, challenges persist. Our recent relocation to a smaller and less accessible venue underscores financial limitations. Yet, with faith in God's grace, we aspire to expand our food bank initiatives to reach more people in need and to broaden our outreach and evangelism efforts to cover greater territory for the glory of our Lord Jesus.

## Directors

The following persons served as directors during the year:

Victor Monday Kadiri appointed 19/02/2023 Michael Soniran Ofure Melisa Erhahon appointed 19/02/2023

At present the Board has committee members who are responsible for the day-to-day activities of the charity. None of the committee members is being remunerated for being a committee member.

All Trustees receive the handbook for Trustees’ provided through the Charity Commission. Each Trustee will have an induction programme by other Trustees and receive an information pack on the Charity and its finances. Beyond this the Charity follows the code of practice for governance produced by the Governance Hub. Company law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which comply with the Charities Act 1993 as amended.

5

The systems of internal control are designed to provide reasonable, but not absolute, assurance against material misstatement or loss.

They include:

- i. A strategic plan and annual budget approval by the Trustees

- ii. Regular consideration by the Trustees of financial results, in particular variance from budget

- iii. Delegation of authority and segregation of duties.

## STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES RESPONSIBILITIES IN RESPECT OF THE TRUSTEES' ANNUAL REPORT AND THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations.

Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year in accordance with UK Accounting Standards and applicable law (UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

The financial statements are required by law to give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of the excess of income over expenditure for that period.

In preparing this financial statement, the trustees are required to

- select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

- make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

- state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and

- Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Charity will continue in its activities.

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company and enable them to ensure that its financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 as amended. ## REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD GLORYLAND CONNECTIONS

INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD GLORYLAND CONNECTIONS

We report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30 November 2023, which are set out on Pages 11 to 18.

We have examined the financial statements of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gloryland Connections (the charity) for the year ended 30 November, 2023 which comprise the Statement of Financial Activities, the Balance Sheet, the Statement of Cash Flows and the related notes, including a summary of significant accounting policies, the financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation, its applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards, including Financial Reporting Standard 102 - ‘The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland’ (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standards applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice issued on 1 April 2005 which is referred to in the extant regulations but has been withdrawn.

This has been done in order for the accounts to provide a true and fair view in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Practice effective for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2015.

In our opinion the financial statements:

- Give a true and fair view of the state of the charity’s affairs as at 30 November 2022 and of its incoming resources and application of resources for the year ended;

- Have been properly prepared in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice; and

- Have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 1993 Act)) and that an independent examination is needed. It is our responsibility to:

- examine the accounts (under section 43(3)(a) of the 1993 Act);

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under Section 43(7)(b) of the 1993 Act); and

- to state whether particular matters have come to our attention.

8

## Basis of independent examiner’s report

Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

## Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention:

- (1) Which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 2011 Act; and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act as amended.

Have not been met; or

(2) To which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## Use of our report

This report is made solely to the charity’s trustees, as a body, in accordance with Part 4 of the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008. Our examination of the accounts has been undertaken so that we might state to the charity’s trustees those matters we are required to state to them in an examiner’s report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and its trustees, as a body, for the independent examination work, or for the opinions we have formed.

## REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD GLORYLAND CONNECTIONS

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 NOVEMBER 2023

## 1. Accounting Policies

1.1 Basis of preparation of financial statements The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the charities SORP (FRS 102) - Accounting and Reporting by Charities. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102 and the Charities Act 2011.

The financial statements have been prepared to give a true and fair view and have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to the extent required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Charities SORP (FRS 102) published on 16 July 2014 rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities Statement of Recommended Practice effective from 1 April 2005 which has since been withdrawn.

Black and Minority Ethnic Community Partnership meet the definition of public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy.

## 1.2 Going Concern

There are no material uncertainties regarding the charity’s ability to continue. Therefore, the accounts are prepared on a going concern basis.

## 1.3 Income

All income is recognised once the Charity has entitlement to the income. It is probable that the income will be received and the amount of income can be measured reliably. Income tax recoverable in relation to investment income is recognised at the time the investment income is receivable.

## 1.4 Expenditure

Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a third party. It is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs of each activity are made up of the total direct costs and shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly to that activity.

14

Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and support costs which are not attributable to a single activity are apportioned between those activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. Central staff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent, and depreciation charges allocated on the portion of asset’s use.

Expenditure on charitable activities in incurred on directly undertaking the activities which further the Charity’s objectives, as well as any associated support costs.

Grants payable are charged in the year when the offer is made except in those cases where the offer is conditional, such grants being recognised as expenditure when the conditions attaching are fulfilled. Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been met at the year-end are noted as a commitment, but not accrued as expenditure.

All expenditure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT.

## 1.5 Interest receivable

Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the Charity; this is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the institution with whom the funds are deposited.

## 1.6 Tangible fixed assets and depreciation

Tangible fixed assets are initially recognised at cost. After recognition under the cost model, tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. All costs incurred to bring a tangible fixed asset into its intended working condition should be included in the measurement of cost.

Depreciation is charged so as to allocate the cost of tangible fixed assets less their residual value over their estimated useful lives.

Depreciation is provided on the following bases: Freehold property - not depreciated Long term leasehold property - 100 years Fixtures and Fittings - 5 years Office Equipment - 7 years

## 1.7 Debtors

Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount after any trade discount offered. Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid net of any trade discounts due.

## 1.8 Cash at bank and in hand

Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening or similar account.

15

## 1.9 Liabilities and provisions

Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation at the Balance Sheet date as a result of a past event, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefit will be required in settlement, and the amount of the settlement can be estimated reliably.

Liabilities are recognised at the amount that the Charity anticipated it will pay to settle the debt or the amount it has received as advanced payments for the goods or services it must provide.

Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required to settle obligation. Where the effect of the time is material, the provision is based on the present value of those amounts, discounted at the pre-tax discount rate that reflects the risks specific to the liability. The unwinding of the discount is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities as a finance cost.

## 2.0 Fund Accounting

General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.

Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the Trustees for particular purposes. The aim and use of each designated fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.

Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by the donors or which have been raised by the Charity for particular purposes. The costs of raising and administering such funds are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.

Investment income, gains and losses are allocated to the appropriate fund.
