alongside Christophcr Nieper Foundation whlch is lundtrd principally by donations from our lamily and
lamily company D8vid Ni8per18shion where l am CEO Bnd which was founded by my parents In 1961.
With the abovg mission I belleve our compBny18 8n exempl8r ol corporate gocial r•yponsibility which could
be replicBted to great effect elsewhere In Brit8in. ReyeDrch by Westminster Think tank. The Cenire for

The trustees have referred to the guidance ¢ont8ined In the Charlty Commission's generBI guidance on
public benefit when ￿VIewIng their aims and objectives and when planning for future 8Ctivitses. In
particular. Ihetrustees consider how planned activitieswill coniribute to the aims and objectives they have
set.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
In education David Nieper Academy has become Derbyshire's 3rd mosl oversubscribed school and ils
innov8tive approach to employability has helped 8chieve zgro NEETS at age 18 for the second year
rnnning. Over 80% of sixth form leavers gained plaees at university. At the lime ol writing Christopher
Nieper Education Trust. which is supported bythis Foundation has 4 schools Ivp from 2 schooLs18St year).
Spirit ol Alfreton, the Foundotion's loeal news port81'for the community, by the community. now has up to
30.000 views on soci81 media each month and 3000 monthly web visitors.
It has a full-time reporterleditor which is co-funded with the University ol Derby with whom the Foundation
has a specral partnership agreement.

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basls of prep8rlng the flnanclal statements
The financial statements have been prepared In accordance with the Ch8rity's governing
document. the ChBrities Act 2011. FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in
the UK and Republic of Ireland. I"FRS 102" and the Ch8rilies SORP"Accountingand Reporting
by Charitie5.' Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to ch8rities preparing their
accounts irs accordance with the Fln8ncial Reporting Standard appllcable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021" leflective 1 January 20191. The Charity is e Public Benefit Entity
as defined by FRS 102.
The Charlty has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities not to prepare a
Statement of Cash Flows.
The financial stalements have departed from the Charities IAccounts and Reports)
Regulations 2008 only to the extent required to provide 8 true and fair view. This departure has
Involved following the Statement of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102
18ther th8n the version of the Statement ot Recommended Practice which 18 referred to in the
Regulations but which has since been withdrawn.
The financial ststements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the
Charity. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest£.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. with the
exception of investments which are included at market value, as modified by the revaluation
of certain assets.
The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below.
Golng concern
At the time ot approving the financial statements. the Trustees have a reasonable expectalion
that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the
foreseeable future. This the Trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting
in preparing the financial statements.

1.3. Charltable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use 8t the dlscretion of the Trustees in lurtherance of their
charitsble objectives.
Restricted fund5 are subject to specific conditions by donors or 8r8ntors as to how they may
be used. The purposes and uses of ihe restricted funds are set out Sn the note8 to the financial
statements.
Income
Income is recognised when the Charity is legally entitled to it after any perfoimance conditions
have been met, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be
received.
Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the Charity
has been notified ol the donation. unless performance conditions require deferral of the
amount. Income tax recoverable in relBtion to donalions received under Gift Aid or deeds of
ovenant is recognised at the time of the donation.
Assets fordistribution are recognised onlywhen distributed. Assetsgiven foi use by the Charity
are recognised when receivable. Stocks of undisiributed donated goods are not valued for
balance sheet purposes.
1.5. Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised when there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic
benefit to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in
settlement, and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs of each activity are made up of the tot81 of direct
costs and shared costs. including support Costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct
costs gttiibutable to a single activity are allocated directly lo that activity. Shared costs which
contribute to more than one activity and support costs which are not attributable to 8 single
activity are 8PPOrtioned between those activities on a basis consistent with the use of
resources. Central staff costs are allocated on the basis ot time spent, and depreciation
charges are 811ocated on the portion of the asset's use.

The foundation is a registered charity and is exempt from taxation.

Fin8nclal Instruments
The foundation only has linancial 8ssets and financial liabilities of 8 kind that qualify as basic
financi81 instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction value
and subsequently measured at IheSr settlement value with the exception of bank loans which
are subsequently measured at 8mortised cost usingihe effective interest meihod.
Flxed asset Investments
Investments are a form of basic financi81 instrument 8nd are initially recognised at cost and
subsequently measured at their fair value as at the balance sheet date using the market value.
The Statement of Financial Activities Includes the net gains 8nd losses arising on revaluations
throughout the year
Crillcal accounling estlmates andjudgements
In the application of the Charity's accounting policies, the Trustees are required to make
judgements. estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets 2nd liabilities
that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estim8tes and associated assumptions
are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actu81
results may differfrom these estimates.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to
accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the
revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the
revision affects both current and tuture periods.

During 2024-25. the charity made donalions totalling £21.00012024- £23.0001 to David Niepei
Academy, which Is led by Dr Kathryn Hobbs, a Iruslee oi ihe charity.
The charity also made donations of £15,00012024'. Énill to The Centre for Social Justice,
political think tank led by Andrew Cook. a trustee of the charity.
There were no balances due tolfrom The Centro for Social Justice as ai 31 March 202512024:

During 2024-25, the charity paid E11.164 to Paul Potts, 8 trustee of the charity. for consultancy
services.
