Trustees’ Annual Report for the period 1st December 2020 – 31[st] October 2021 Georgia’s Voice Registered Charity Number 1193028 ## **Objectives and Activities** At Georgia’s Voice we benefit the public by supporting young women living in Cornwall aged 18-25 with Mental health concerns. We do this by providing free support groups where they can receive emotional support by a team of trained volunteer facilitators, by helping build a support network to help preserve and protect good mental health. We help them with signposting to professional mental health services, and we can make referrals for talking therapy. We also put on regular wellbeing activities that promote good mental health. Our objective going forward is to open more groups across Cornwall so that every young woman living in Cornwall can easily access one, and to keep coming up with new ideas for raising money to pay for the costs involved with this. We organise regular fundraisers to fund our groups and activities. We set up our charity shop to bring in a regular steady income for the charity. I can confirm all trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. ## **Achievements and performance** -We have successfully set up 12 support groups across Cornwall with 2-25 members in each -We have completed safety plans with members in Crisis, preventing possible suicide attempts/self-harm -We have gathered testimonials from members which are available on our website detailing how the groups have benefit their life and mental health -We have achieved integration of the girls into the community by collaborating with other organisations and charities at wellbeing events and fundraisers -We launched an annual National listening day with another charity on November 16[th] -Our founder was recognised with the ‘community hero’ award voted for by the local community for all the charity work carried out -Our charity and its work have featured twice on the local televised news BBC Spotlight and ITV news, as well as local radio stations in recognition of the difference we are making in the community. In the members testimonials and through group talks, some of the differences reported by members have been- -Consistency through the weekly support groups -Feelings of increased confidence -Feeling empowered -Increased ability to impose boundaries -Personal growth -Resolving trauma through the therapy funded by us -Making friends -Reduced isolation -Reduced self-harm -Building social skills -Feeling safe -Feeling part of a community -Reduced/no hospital visits ## **Financial Review.** At the end of the financial period our Income was £83,831.67 Our expenditure was £46,283.67 Where our money comes from-Donations and legacies -Fundraising -Our charity shop -Grants -Website sales of branded merchandise We have a reserves policy in place stating that we keep 6 months running costs in the bank which totals £33,000. ## **Structure, Governance and Management.** We are structured as a charitable trust. We abide by the rules set out in our governing document, (trust deed) and the guidelines set by the charity commission. The charity is managed by the Founder/Director Sophie Alway and the trustees who have regular meetings.
