Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. All Trustees were briefed
on the role of Trustees for MindworksUK CIO, given copies of the
governing documents of the charity and referred to the details on the
charity commission website related to becoming a trustee and to the
guidance on public benefit.
These activities benefit our community to help combat mental health
issues as well as other services as and when the need arises.

1, Meeting and SLA agreement with Victim Support Merton
2, Approached by MEND to start an online support group for its staff. This
is in response to the rise of Islamophobia due to the conflict between Israel
and Palestine. Peter Hein developed tips to cope with stress handout.
3, Sahar delivered a theatre therapy workshop 26/10/23 with Polly Newall
from Roots for Change.
4, Mary-Lou viewing offices/counselling spaces with TUAID and we are
waiting to hear which tenancy we will be offered.
5, Miranda Taggart and Mary-Lou in the process of setting up a second
counselling programme with WIT (Women’s Inclusion Team) Bethnal

organise a research cafe to understand why minority communities do not
engage with mental health research. MindworksUK agrees to engage the
community and work in collaboration with TCK (Tooting Community
Kitchen).

Arshad Daud was appointed as a member. We are very happy with this
appointment as Arshad is a trusted member of the Wandsworth
Community and Chairof theBalham Mosque andTootingIslamic Centre.| |---|---| May 2025 4 **TAR** Arshad comes with a considerable knowledge of community work in Wandsworth. 2, MindworksUK and TCK collaborate in organising a summer fun day picnic for refugee families. 3, From 11th July MindworksUK is commissioned by SWAN (Southern Women's Aid Network) to deliver an art therapy programme for refugee women living in hotels. The programme consisted of 10 sessions once a week. When the summer holidays began the women had to bring their children due to lack of childcare. We could accommodate the children by working with them on a second table facilitating arts and crafts for the children. This is very important to us as Miranda had been **during the year** working six and half years voluntarily in the position of programme manager. We moved into our own premises, an office/counselling room in Aldgate East and will have that tenancy for at least a year through TUAID (Temporary Use AID). We feel very fortunate to be working with TUAID and we have been informed that we may be able to move into a second office and counselling room in Wandsworth next year. We continue to build and develop our working relationships with other grass roots, statutory and non-statutory organisations (see named organisations above). The development of these relationships means we can take referrals for our counselling service and refer/signpost our clients when the need arises. We continue to reach people in our community and aim to alleviate their mental health issues with professional support, kindness and compassion. MindworksUK is always refining our fundraising skills, and we see this as an ongoing important piece of our work. Without which we cannot deliver our counselling service. MindworksUK continues to sponsor Women’s Netball at TIC (Tooting Islamic Centre) it is very well attended, two evenings a week, two sessions per evening. We are very thankful to Maliya Beg for running the sessions voluntarily. We want to acknowledge the enormous contribution (for a second year running) by one of our Trustees Mary-Lou Al-Saedy. Mary-Lou is a very experienced therapist and her knowledge is indispensable when we are writing funding applications and all round support for the charity. We also want to thank Saiqa Ali (CEO SWAN - Southern Women's Asian Network) who always provides MindworksUK with advice and endless encouragement. Another friend of MindworksUK is Peter Hein (retired psychotherapist) who has volunteered assisting MindworksUK on writing policies and research for our grant applications.
