Mission
Our objective is to promote the rehabilitation of offenders, those at risk of offending, and exoffenders for public benefit. We provide programmes based on the Enneagram designed to foster transformation through increased self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-regulation. This development enhances individual capabilities, competences, knowledge, skills, and understanding, and improves emotional health and wellbeing.
Our programme is inspired by the Enneagram Prison Project (EPP), founded by Susan Olesek in 2012. For more information, visit www.enneagramprisonproject.org.
We are a member of the EPP global community, sharing the mission of "Freeing people from prisons of their own making" by using the Enneagram to inspire transformation on both sides of the bars.
Activities
Programme Delivery
In April 2023, a team of Guides and apprentice guides from The Enneagram Inside and EPP entered HMP Holme House in North East England. This marked our first in-custody programme delivery since early 2020. Over six days, 24 men participated in an intensive version of our usual eight-week programme, working to deepen their self-understanding and navigate underlying mental, emotional, and behavioural patterns.

Training and Apprenticeships
Two apprentice guides successfully completed their training, supported and assessed by experienced Guides from France and the US. This marked the culmination of extensive online training over several years.
Establishing Ongoing Programming
We are working to secure future training opportunities within the prison estate. The introduction of the UK Prisons National Framework for Interventions (NFI) in December 2023 has presented new challenges, which we are actively addressing.
While navigating the NFI, we are developing a one-day refresher course for prisons where we have previously delivered programmes. This pilot will commence at Holme House in June 2024.
Promoting Our Organisation
In March 2024, we attended a Quakers in Criminal Justice meeting to promote our work. Additionally, we have begun redesigning our website to ensure its smooth operation and futurereadiness.
Governance
In December 2023, trustees Christine Adames and Jill Anderson stepped down after significant contributions to our charity. We welcomed Sue Braithwaite as Chair and Judith Roles as a new trustee in January 2024.
We have moved forward with the development of key policies to support our work, including a Financial Controls Policy and associated registers, safety of information, and safeguarding protocols.
Affiliation with EPP
In December 2023, we signed an Affiliate Agreement with EPP, solidifying our collaboration while maintaining our independence as a charity.
Structure, Governance, and Management
The Enneagram Inside is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by its constitution and currently has three trustees.
