## **Trustees Annual Report** 30.12. 2020 -31. 12. 2021 ARIYALAI SRI PARWATHY DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL ## Registered as a Charity in England: No. 1192937 ## **WHO WE ARE** ASPVDSI is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered in England which supports Sri Parwathy Vidyalayam, an all through school located in Ariyalai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. ## **WHAT WE DO** Provide resources, advice, services and grants to Sri Parwathy Vidyalayam with the aim of redeveloping the school into a top school. ## **OUR PEOPLE** Our Trustees are: Chair - Nalayini Kuganathan Vice-Chair - Srideva Mylvaganam Secretary - Jeyasundra Tharmendra Our dear Treasurer Kugathasan Thavendren sadly passed away on 22nd January 2022 ## **PUBLIC BENEFIT** Grants are made in accordance with charity law, our constitution and the wishes and directions of donors. In making grants and providing services, we endeavour to reflect the wishes of students and staff by directing funds towards areas we are informed by the school body are most in need. During the year 2021, £8,500 was provided in Grants. When considering where to focus our attention our trustees board a have regard to the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit and what this means for ASPVDSI. ## **CHAIR'S REPORT** 2021 was the first full year this organisation operated, despite being a new organisation and facing the challenges of the pandemic we have managed to provide a great deal of assistance to the school. We raised over £18,000 which is an amazing achievement and £8,500 was provided in grants to help the school. Every member should be proud of the achievements! In my early meetings with the Director of Nallur Department of Education, he stressed to me the importance for the School in increasing the number of students and so I am happy that the Year 1 intake for the new Academic year has significantly improved from the previous year. I’m sure the work we have done to support the school and improve its reputation has played a part. ## We have formed strong ties with the School administration, especially Principal Ravichandran and we look forward to working closely with the Principal and the school going forward. The Old Students Association have provided so much assistance in helping us to deliver for the students especially by providing their bank account to handle funds raised by us. OSA Chair Dr. Mohanadas, Treasurer Mrs. Vimalarani Sivam, Secretary Miss. Kamalaverni Ramapillai, (who is also ASPVDSI SL rep),Mr. P. Kugathasan and Mr. A Sivalingam all deserve great credit for their work in supporting ASPVDSI and the School. I would like to thank the management committee: Mr A. Sutharsan, Mr M. Sri Rajalingam, Mr. S. Jeevendra, Mr R. Ravindran, Miss K. Ramapillai, Mrs T. Mahalingam for their contributions in shaping up the projects and meeting throughout the period to discuss operational matters. The accounts have been prepared by Mr. K. Gengatharan, I commend his work and thank him. In January we lost our Treasurer Mr Thavendren Kugathasan, this has been a difficult loss to accept. He did so much for this organisation and the School, he worked right up until the final stages of his illness. He carried the School in his heart and we wouldn’t have achieved what we have without him. His work in maintaining the accounts meticulously has made it easy for the accounts to be prepared. His wish for ASPV to be transformed into a top school must be fulfilled and we must all work together to achieve this.
